speak to terra operative. he's trying to organise someone to do it at the moment. No one really wants to go near them though
has anyone any news on where or if it's possible to get c12/14 rotors recoated with teflon or whatever it is on them ?

Stu's right the general concensus from a few people who've had threads about this sort of problem seem to be replace not repair.

do they even need recoating? just a out of bed brainfart thought...
what metal is the actual rotors made from? can it (the rotors) just be cleaned and polished?
These guys are looking to replace the teflon coating the rotors have on them.

i know that, just throwing in another option maybe......
aluminium rotors, thin teflon coating.
the teflon gives it the surface to surface seal to improve efficiency, but maybe someone has run one with it stripped off?
a strip or couple of strips at the right places on the lobe might work, but then again, might not![]()

But whats the difference between that and just letting the teflon wear away and the aluminium polishing itself?
They would have gone to great expense to get that teflon coating on the rotors, so its there for a very good reason.

But you can't just remove material and expect the thing to seal. Even if the Teflon is only 0.5mm thick, that's way to big a gap.

Have to agree the whole flow dynamics would change the design would need a certain gap to keep the air compressed surely?

The Teflon is critical to retrain positive pressure...
its obvious isn't it? no way in hell you would get anything worthwhile outs of stripped rotors.
Terra Operative has found the company that originally made the sc12/14 chargers, perhaps its possible to buy new rotors from them.
mate had his stripped like that he ended up just replacing it.
Whats an SC12/14 worth? is it really that much less to re-coat?
These questions have to be asked.. if you have to take it off to recoat it, its probably just as cost effective and as easy to replace surely.

The last listing I saw for an SC12 from a dealer was about $3,500 (US).
Ogura Clutch, of Japan, made the SC12's, and no one I know of has had any luck getting them to offer any kind of parts, even though Toyota supposedly doesn't sell them anymore.
However, I do wonder what, and how, a company in the US, who rebuilds these things, actually does if they can't get parts from them. I've been meaning to contact them to see just what they can, or cannot, rebuild on them.
So long and thanks for all the fish!
