in a previos thread, the contents of fuels were discussed (i thnk) and many of them have significant levels of toluene as a base anyway.

i would suggest that anyone trying to brew their own fuel would be wise to check the actual content of the fuel, whihc is available via the fuels MSDS, before choosing the octane booster...

Oman, the difference between benzene and toluene is not that big (and any fuel is very bad for you!!!).... many if not most fuel constituents these days are aromatics... the benzene ring is stronger, and thus harder to break/ignite, than fully branched carbon chains....

if you look at the data sheet for Mobil 8000

the amount of benzene is actually low, and is being regulated out anyhoo...
however it has at least 25% toluene
and if you look at mobil 2000... lower octane
    http://caligula.bcs.deakin.edu.au/bc...rgy%202000.htm
it actually has MORE toluene than the higher octane 98.... then again, it is the other stuf that lowers the rating....

then again, is it MON or RON you are after?

"run of the mill" doesnt sound right Mick!

Try using 60L of alcohol in a 6litre chev over a 6km race!

    Atleast alcohol is reasonably priced
