    Default Supercharging 4AGE

    Hi all,

I have an Ozzie AW11 MR2 1988, it has a 4age which I think is 86kw, I would like to put on a supercharger from a 4AGZE and would like to know what limits I have with this engine, what is the max boost that this engine can run, would I need to use 4AGZE injectors and ECU? is there anything else I would need? currently it has a pod filter with CAI feed, apart from that its pretty much stock. Anyone done this before? How much of a power increase can I expect, I would also like this setup to last and not kill my motor.

    Cheers

you would basicaly need everything off a 4agze engine, the ECU, wiring loom, injectors, distributor, AFM, all the s/c gear, inlet manifold etc, etc.
as much as i love the aw11 4age and know it will take boost quite happily, if your going to source all the stuff to turn your 4age into a 4agze... well you might as well buy a complete 4agze, it will last longer and you'll have the chance to run higher boost levels more reliably. (<spelling?)

Yea I agree. If your going to do it you may as well just buy a 4agze. At least this way if you make later modifications you have the strength of forged internals.

well you could do it that way
but you could also make your own manifolds etc
but you would need the gze electrics.

the problem with buying a complete 4agze is the cost of them these days.....

internal strength is not an issue especially with the 8ish psi from an sc12.

so my opinion here would be to see if you can find the ecu, loom manifolds etc off an aw11 and swap the lot over.
speaking fom experience i can tell you that 9.4 compression and the N/A gearbox goes very very well

It will be an issue if future mods are on the agenda. Personally I would go straight to the mods by going turbo (especially if you get custom manifolds made).

only the pistons are a worry, and they can handle as much as 15psi.
the rods and crank are strong enough for much much more than that

^^ hehe.. i know my ge pistons handle 12psi.

problem over here is with the cost of sourceing and then buying all the ancillaries needed it would cost nearly the same if not much more to buy the gze complete.

Bumping this. It was either that or make a new thread, figured this was relevant.

Just wanted clarification of what's required to convert a 4AGE to a 4AGE+Z

the ECU, wiring loom, injectors, distributor, AFM, all the s/c gear
Anything else? Different FPR on the fuel rail?

And... if I had an AFM 4age loom with AFM from an AW11 4AGE could I use that loom?

Also... why do you need the GZE distributor? How are they different?

    Thanks.

    wow, over a year.

to make it easier for you, buying a complete 4agze with all it's bits will be a hell of a lot easier than sourceing all the 4agze bits seperate. and most probably work out cheaper.

the loom is different as is the afm and distributor from both systems, not compatible.

another option i spose is to buy a aftermarket computer, larger injectors, a s/c, i/c and low mount it under your 4age inlet manifold (ala: nick.parker). then you can use your 4age gear.

    have fun.
