Could extra locking nuts be bought separate then to go under their ring? Or do different brand sleeves use different threads/ODs on the sleeves?![]()
Yeah, im now a bit dicey about getting those coilover sleeves from T3.
Im certainly not keen on the allen key locks, no doubt they work, but i just dont like it 110%

I am tracking down a small business in Canberra, that can supply the coil over sleeves and nuts @ $150.00 per pair. If they are steel, I will be buying some. The alloy sleeves, I think would be quite prone to thread damage from random road debris (rocks).Originally Posted by takai
Will post details, when I have the info,
Otomoto, had an ad in ZOOM, pair of coil over srings only, for $100.00, any rate. Has anybody bought these yet?
cheers Chuck.

OK, I hate it when mates get prices WRONG. The coilover sleeves and nuts are $260-$270 per pair, they are steel.
I can buy steel coilover sleeves and nuts from Pedders, at trade for that price!
cheers Chuck.

Went to take some measurements on the corona strut and the KYB MR2 insert earlier, and have come across a bit of a stumbling block. When I drop the cartridge into the strut, the top of the cartridge housing sits at the top of the strut like its supposed to if it were a normal corona strut insert.... but we all know the MR2 insert is a lot shorter. My trusty tape measure tells me the length of the body on the strut insert is 336mm (including that little stub on the bottom of it) and the depth of the inside of the strut is 400mm. So therefore, something is stopping the insert from going all the way to the bottom and sitting there.
If you take a look at the pic below, you will notice the weld at the bottom seems to protrude out a little more than the rest of the cartridge's body, but it is a little hard to tell (follow the green arrow)
I really dont want to have to start griding the strut insert, as I have no idea how much metal I have to play withAnyone come across this before? Ideas? Suggestions?

Can you either file it down slightly? Or try and clean out the inside of the tube?
You may need to get creative to clean the tube out. Not sure how you would go about it.
we are doing the same thing this weekend but with a SW20 koni insert im at the shop tomorrow ill thake some pics and let you know. so far we have chopped 50mm of the strut allready. stay tuned ill get more info 2mozza.

There is a method in the madness
Thats odd.. I got the ST204 shocks, almost identical to SW20 just slightly softer valving.
They were actually sloppy inside the strut housing, the diameter of the shock itself is smaller than original celica/xt130 shocks.
Dont worry guys I am a nong head. I tried the insert in the 2nd strut and it dropped all the way down, so went back to the 1st strut and rammed it in there with some force and it decided to go all the way in, pulled it out again and from then on it went in easily. So I guess there was a slight interference with a little paint or metal maybe and just needed a little force to get it home. Thanks anyway... now to shorten my struts

Hey when you say you have chopped 50mm off the strut, have you chopped it off the top with the intention of re-threading it? Or are you chopping 50mm out of the strut and welding the threaded top back on?Originally Posted by strat

Also in regards to spacers and how much to chop etc..
I went with the standard 40mm cut and 30mm spacer. But if I was to do it again I would only put a 10mm spacer in and cut 60mm out.
Why would you do it that way Joel? Just curious...
I was going to go with a 50mm chop and 20mm spacer, mainly because Ive heard a few stories on here of it being done that way so thought I would stick with the tried and tested way.
By the way guys, anyone thinking of buying the coilover kits from T3, be wary that the actual alloy threaded sleeve is actually 52.4mm ID. It is designed to sit on a steel weld ring which is 51.2mm ID. Im still going to use them, just have to figure out a way to space out the threaded sleeve a little so its in contact with the outside of the strut tube. Not too concerned as most the weight and force will be on the weld ring area which is a good fit there, but I am sure most people would rather have a nice fit.

I've found at my ride height I still have too much droop..
Remember you still want a bit of droop,20mm spacer with 50mm chopped out i find pretty good.

Can anyone give me the standard length/height of the XT130 strut BEFORE you cut it down? I didnt write it down, just told the boilermaker at work "take 50mm out" but now I wanna check that he did infact take 50mm out and not too much more, as I am having some assembly issues. Could just be me being a twit and doing something wrong, but I just wanna make sure before I open my mouth and look like an idiot.
