A silvertop won't be a whole lot faster than a 16v, they feel a lot like a really healthy 16v motor. They do have a great sound and 'character' though.
Strange things are afoot at the circle K
- Gains are marginal over the 16v when looking at lower power kinda stuff.
- Spare parts are way more expensive than the 16v.
- Performance parts are even more expensive.
- Once you hit a certain level of modification, the 16v begins to have the upper hand.
In all honesty, I don't think it is worth going for the 20v. Use the money to warm over your existing 16v. It will be much better spent.
You might want to consider a gze conversion, they are a much more torquey motor than the silvertop. Won't get as many rev's but you'll get there alot quicker!
I agree on the premise that this is a street car. Consider that your insurance will rise with the addition of forced induction.Originally Posted by 75Ta22LT

I was wondering why my ears were burning. lol
Yep Stick with the 16v and $pend your cash on that. you could do a set of cams easily for the price of the conversion - -- Then the 16v will deff sound better !!!

it's safe to say that once you start heavily modifying.. it makes little differenceOriginally Posted by Vios-GT_07
there are high power 16 and 20V, both in NA and turbo....
so it is whatever floats your boat...
perhaps stick the 20V ITB's onto the 16V, with T3 adaptor and an aftermarket ECU, with cams... and you have a healthy little motor to start...
