4Wd or 2WD? i thought the 2WD were the same as Ford/Nissan (5 x 114.3)?
If 2WD, then time to find another tyre centre as they're full of bullshizen
Hey we're in the process of doing up our lowlux and are up to the rims. We went to our local tyre centre and they say that there is not much they can get for this stud pattern & offset. is this a load of bullshizen?
Any help and maybee a suppliers website would be appreciated.

You may find the load rating is what causes issues, most rims/tyres are not rated high enough for a commercial vehicle. Apparently in Aussie it is illegal to fit a lower rated wheel/tyre combo.

but theres so many lux's gettin around with ghey arse chromies theyre either all be illegal, or theres a way of fitting them legally. ie they have a high enough load rating.
that said, i reckon theyre all illegal![]()
might be legal on hte 2.7 as they arnt as highly rated as the 4.0 fellas...

speak to these guys

they should be able to put at least 20-22 inch rims on for you
id be going at least 20's on an 05, unless its not a new shape one. 18's look too small.
i know for fact cooper make SUV tyres that are 265 wide and very highly load rated. 99% of mini trucks getting around are not running the proper load rated tyres so they are illegal.
I have 20" rims on my 05 hilux. It looks in proportion but it would stand out more with 22'sMake sure you get a decent profile tyre. I have 35's and it ends up being very close to the same rolling diameter as the stockers. Next time I will increase my tyre profile and im sure they will fill the guards a bit better.

pube, changing profile to change rolling diameter to better fill the gaurds will mess with your gearing, and also make your speedo read incorrectly. to fill the gaurds more, lower the car
i think thats one of the nicest looking sets of wheels ive seen on a hilux btw, congrats on not going ghey bling bling
is that the 4wd? or 2wd.
and are the tyres/wheels appropriately load rated?

Bigger tyres would look good but unfortunately would mess with speedo and gearing. The tyres on there are going for ever. I have already clocked close to 50K k's with them and they have nearly 50% tread on them. Not bad for backyard cheapo's! Its a 2wd with 2" lowering blocks in the back. Yet again maybe I should have got proper lowered springs in the back but the stockers are so damn hard it drops only about an inch more with a loaded tray and car trailer on there. She sits high but thats just how they are. For me lowering the front isnt really on the cards. Having owned lowered cars in the past and putting up with speed bumps and car parks just doesnt interest me anymore. This way you can drive over just about anything except trying not to scratch the wheels, but I have failed there a few times too. Not sure on the rims but I think the tyres have a heavy duty rating.

I would say 2WD since its 5 stud.

Whats scary is those 20's don't even look big on the hilux, thats a very nice wear rate on the tyres
If in doubt power out
i have worn out front tyres down to about 30% after about 5000 KM. not on a hilux, and they are sticky as shit. but man, thats some good treadwear
does that have an LSD in it?
i reckon the one in the 4wd hiluxs is shit under light loads on gravel hills etc. just spins single wheels half the time...
any experiences?

Ive got a V6 SR so its just got a single spinner diff. Its quite useless in the rain as you cant get any drive off the mark. Had a few scary moments at some intersections trying to pick the gaps but couldnt get moving. Other times its just so frustrating trying to get drive. It can turn the wheels up to 120km/h in 3rd when you want to have some funIf I could be bothered it would be worth while getting a TrueTrac
