Hi,
There's been a few threads about the wonderful side-draught Solex carbs that make the superlative 2T-G and 18R-G engines run so well.
So, with no further ado, let me post the following extracts that will not only show you all the bits of these carbs, but also how to tune them.
There are 19 images, which I will make thumbnails, so it will go over 2 posts, due to the10 image limit per post. I set the image size to 1024x768 (for 17-inch screens) to make them a little bigger and easier to read.
Also, this is for tuning the Solex on your 2T-G. The 18R-G is very similar, and I have this info, but I will need to scan it and convert to JPG and host it before I can post. So, in the meantime, here's the 2T-G stuff.....

ill add that a VERY useful tool for tuning 18RGs is a infared heat gun. i havent read the above articles yet but i doubt these were around 10 years ago. we use these since 99% of bikes are multi carb'ed. you point them at each header to compare temps.
also if you can somehow get 4 small vacuum tubes into each port close to the engine then a motorbike shop will be able to check the balance with one of these. something dodgey i have seen is 4 holes drilled in the bakelite spacer with 4 brass tubes pushed in.
this is exactly the type of one we have at our motorbike shop

Save these in soft copy, print them out and bind them together for a workshop manual.
