Default Who rebuilds Ball Joints? Please help ASAP!

I have rooted ball joints on my Aristo. They are not pressed in, so you have to buy new arms to replace them, which is VERY expensive at over 500 each side!!!

I have heard that non sepearatable ball joints can get re-machined and rebuilt to like new from somewhere in country victoria.

Does anyone know of such a place? One in QLD would be beneficial.

I know the old injected nolethane method is illegal as it is very unsafe, but apparently this place can rebuild them using metal machining etc... Supposed to be like new.

Please help me out ASAP by pointing me in the right direction.

    Thanks heaps
    Ben

I just found this thread http://www.toymods.net/forums/showth...+joint+rebuild

I might give these blokes a ring. Is the injection method any good? I thought it was illegal, but hey, if it works, I wont complain!

Ben, the other option you have is to find a balljoint from another car that will fit. Things to look for are the threads, rod length, ball size etc. Never know, a Camry one or similar might fit. Is it a balljoint or a tierod end (does it have a rod or not)

Its the ball joint and socket. Theres heaps of play in it, both up and down and side to side.
Im a bit scared it'll pop out one day as the car is my daily driver, so i want to get it fixed ASAP.

The only other car that shares the suspension components is the Lexus GS300 (that ive found).

Its the top control arm in this pic:

If anyone knows a replacement thats cheaper and matches, im all ears.
    thanks heaps

So the joint is part of the upper A-arm... what a Ghey idea. Looks like a repair is your only choice if you dont wish to pull out a gorilla. If you can in any way remove the ball, a machine shop (engineering workshop) would be able to re-make them with a new steel ball if you didnt want to get the nolathane injection (which wont reduce the chances of it popping out, just make it tight)

yeah from what ive been told, removing the ball joint is not going to happen, so it looks like injection is my only cheap option. I'll be calling a few places today to see what they say about it.

    Thanks

Have you priced a new arm through Mr Revhead on here? He is NZ based but can do some pretty good pricing.

thanks to all for your replys.

I contacted a few shops that do the injection moulding, but they said its not a fix for stuffed ball joints, just ones with a little play. I stopped into STZ on the way home from work (night shift - yuck!) and they had some celsior arms just sitting there. Grabbed them ($80 each) nicked over to repco and bought some boots and high temp grease and threw them on this morning!

You have got no idea how rooted the old ones were. I can move the ball at least 5-10mm in each direction, theres no grease left and the balls are rusted out. And to think, the boots looked in good nick as well!

Anyway, i'll see if i can track down a rebuilder for the old ones, as eventually these celsior ones will fail, so i'll have a backup pair.

    Anyway, thanks heaps again

I think you might be able to get aftermarket adjustable ones.
I'm pretty sure the Cusco ones for the IS200 were around the $500 mark landed...

Hi bit late but as the name implies I refurbish ball joints but I must have a ball joint
with no damage on the pin or socket, I can be contacted on 0408 752 070 also if
large or wide wheels are being used I can remove play even from new joints greatly
    improving steering and handling.
    Hope this helps someone.
