Which model toyota has GEN 2 3SGE?

As the title states, i whant to know what model toyotas came out with gen 2 3SGE. ie camery, celica,??? is ST185 gen 2?

1989 - 1992 ST182 Celica (FWD JDM model, not local)
1990 - 1994 SW20 MR-2 (Local and JDM models)

I have a sneaking suspicion it may have also featured in a caldina model, but don't think we're likely to ever see one over here. When I get my EPC working again i'll double check for ya.

ST 20x Celica's in JDM models had Gen 2 3SGE

The Australian delivered ones has 5SFE

Oz delivered SW20 MR2 had the Gen 2 3SGE

The Australian delivered ST18x celica's has Gen 1 3SGE or 3SFE

I think the Gen 2 came in cars from 11/92 - 8/95, but don't have the engine manuals with me to verify that.

sure the ST18X aren't gen2? hmm.. might be conversions i saw as the throttle body is over the ignition leads.. on a few ST18x now..

i'll just check.. the caldinas / coronas were 3S-FE where i'm from.. but there could be a GE variant.. OC can verify that.. OC where are u!!!!??

as Andy stated. and i think you could be right on the Caldina, the very early model one.
ST182, had gen 2 3sge, that was also AWS ( all wheel steer) they are import,also the OZ delivered 184 they had 5SFE, 2.2L, and 185 had the 3sgte ( 2nd Gen)
and the MR2 SW20 as stated had it also.

crazy racer, you will find the Gen1 3sge came out inthe st162 celica, and the ST variant had the 3sfe, as did the camrys of the same era, SV21, and that the camrys after had the 5SFE motors,

and JDM ST182 or ST183 Celicas

The only aussie celica to get a 3s-GE was the ST162 which was a gen1

crazyracer and vios - the survey says bup bow. The correct answer is what jorrs, charwie and i have stated. The Gen 2 3SGE came in the aforementioned models.

you guys ought to be negged for proliferating false information and lies in the technical forum - pretty you're not supposed to post 'facts' here if you're just taking a guess.

edit - i know the ~95-97ish caldinas came with a gen 3 3SGE option, not sure if the same existed for the earlier model though.

for what its worth, some Japanese model sv21's came out with gen1 3s-ge. only in japan though.

I wanted to know what to get a gen 2 out of, so that i could use the crank and rods in my sw20 3SGTE, as i am finding it it very hard to get just a short or long motor, no wrecker / importers want to seperate the motors. All i need is a crank and rods.

oh in that case ANY 3sge (including altezza) will have the right crank after gen1, which as mentioned above is only the st16# series cars.
rods.... i think the altezza ones are a bit different, cant remember on that but the others are the same.
but you prob know all that

edit: Makes me wonder how sure are you about the cranks? I'd hate for Strat to go and spend $$$ on a crank thinking it'll fit cos you told him so only to find out that it doesn't.

strat - a guy on ozcelica was in the same boat, needed a gen 2 3SGE. He found one through this website: www.AutoParts.com.au Apparently you just email them with what you're after and if any of the wreckers in the network have it they get in touch with you.

Cool thanks for all the help guys. This is the situation, i run a RA40 with a SW20 3SGTE, in IPRA. 2 weeks ago i spun a rod bearing, (blocked oil cooler). I was looking for a 3sgte but no wrecker / importer, will seperate a complete motor. I am building a new "proper" motor but i need something for the meantime to cut some laps. So i am quite sure gen2 non turbo rods and crank will fit my motor, and if so i can fix my motor quick and easy. I have done a bit of running around today and have found a good scource of SW20 3SGE.
