Do a search, all 1JZ info has been documented many times before on this site.
how much boost is everyone running through their stock 1j
,what is a max reliable amount to use and has anyone blown their engine with too much boost?

Stock 1j's can take 20psi if they are in relatively good condition, I have even seen people push 25psi and their motors have lasted a while but not long, If your worried about blowing motor's and dont have the money to keep replacing them every couple of months I would keep it at 14-15psi
i dont know if you can just put it down to a number so many factors govern it... surely you could find some power levels , specs of 1js in the world in stock condition. then it comes down to the size of the injectors which are something like 380cc??? look at the limits of the injectors thats another governing factor.

It depends on what your definition of 'stock' is...
If you mean 'stock' as in 100% stock then you can run upto 14psi. Bear in mind that it would prbly be best to get rid of the stock restrictive exhaust and intercooler.
If you mean 'stock' as in unopened engine (but larger injectors / turbo etc) then on C16 30psi has been run! (for more than a little while!).

I run 16psi on the street and up to 17.5 at the STrip. STock Ceramics and still going strong![]()

Hmm that seems odd. Can we get an aproximation on how many km's a while or not long is?Originally Posted by Jordan 76

Not having a go but it doesnt really make any sense.
Read Shane's (1JZ747) thread. On N20 and race fuel he's been running 30 psi through an internally stock 1J for ages.... Let us not forget how important very good tuning is at these levels though, detonation will kill an engine very quickly at significantly less than 30 psi

I run 23psi down the strip on the pump fuel. I'm up to about 12 runs now at that boost and i've run it on the street like that. I've hit up to 27psi at the strip on pump fuel when I didn't set my boost controller set correctly.

i actually ran 32 psi for about a year, then for the last few months before i took it out i ran 35 to 37 psi with nos in it aswell, but it will come back to how good your tune is as to whether it will go boom, also my engine had 197000k;s on it. so the hole argument on k;s is bulldust.

fuel quality and tune are the governing factors. You could blow up an engine at 15psi with 35deg timing at peak torque and 91RON fuel I reckon.
i run 25psi all day on the track with mercyless caining at over 350rwkw on dead stock high km bottom end
the key is keep plenty of fuel (10.5:1) in there to keep the pistons cool and make sure theres no detonation
either of those things will kill stock pistons in a flash
