1GGTE Engine GOOD or BAD??????? Thoughts??

Need to know more bout these engines and thier good and bad points??
Have already done some searching.

Engines are "good" or "bad" depending on there application.

Old Morris 1ltrs are great, but you wouldnt put one in a drag car.

You want to put a 1G in a hilux. I wouldnt do it, because the 1G is a very small six, with very short strokes and no torque. When your hauling things around in the back you need torque, not HP so the huge HP numbers youve seen in your "search" are meaning less.

However, they are very easy to chuck in straigh on the 22R mounts.

A "good" engine for a hilux would be what ever toyota are putting in there new hilux, or a LS1 (cause everyone loves it when i say that).

Minimual fuss doesnt exist, you modify one thing on any car and everything f's up.
The 1G is by far the easiest for you. -or maybe import a 22R turbo kit.

You can probably get a 90's SS ute for what you need to spend to give a hilux what you want (if dont the right way, ie no jz's).

whats the deal with them??

i want something that will pull a load and is not a slug. I want something thats reliable. Not look n for the quickest car but something that fun to drive and will last.
i was orgianlly thinkn 3rz but 1g seems easier and will produce more power.

1UZ-FE 4.0L V8 makes for a very nice hilux

Ok, well from that description, you want anything BUT a 1G, they are the complete opposite.
Ask google about 22R turbo’s, and US ebay. No one in Australia knows much about them. What you want will come much easier with a different car, not a different engine.

They do, they just have a massive torque hole below 3000rpm

Because they make power above 5,000rpm, not the place u sit at when driving a ute.
From what ive seen they dont last when worked hard, and are ditched for JZ's.
Its an inline 6, weight dristrobution is going to move forward.
Parts are hard to get.
They smell funny.
