The negative wire will burn up with constant cranking of the starter as it draws lots of power.
Did you plug in all the sensors again when you put the head back on , tps, afm or map whichever it uses
Crank the motor and pull a plug out and see if the plug is wet with fuel, are the plugs fouled this could stop it from firing.
What ignition does it use dizzy or cas, did you put the dizzy back in the right way on the cam if you took it out.
