    Default 1G-FE Engine Weight - 176.65kg

    Hi,

A complete 1G-FE engine with everything weighs 176.65kg. This means a 1G-GTE will weigh more.

Interesting. And yet, the bare 1G block seemed so light carrying it around the shed. I should probably weigh my car before and after I put the 1G in, see what the difference is.

does the lexus 1g-fe have any additions? bigger alternator, 1st stage cat in the extractors (cancel that, I can see the 1st stage cat in the pic - 2 of them it looks like)?

wouldn't make a whole lot of difference I'm sure, but some of us are weight nazis

Nothing special in terms of additions.
The alternator is no larger than other engines. You could argue the electronic throttle body might be "heavy" but then the plastic intake manifold would outweigh that.

Yep, two pre-cats - the exhaust manifold on its own weighs 11kg. I have individual weights of the accessories off the 1UZ if you're interested? Or the 1G bits can be weighed for shits-n-giggles.

LeeRoy - you shoosh - I need to find a 2JZ to weigh before I locate the necessary balls required to publicize the weight of the 1UZ.... (and maybe make myself feel better too )

    toyota 1UZ-FE + R154 mission 486lbs
    + W58 mission 466lbs

    2JZ-GTE Alone 594 lbs
    + Getrag Six Speed 746lbs

    (for the record, 486lb = 220kg)

220kg/211kg - Sorry, I don't quite believe that - I know how much a 1UZ VVTi weighs and the only way this weight is possible is with no accessories at all on the 1UZ... (Or if the difference between a non-VVTi and VVTi is around 45kg - doubtful but I guess possible).

    269kg/338kg - wow, that's heavy!!

I realise you're just passing on the information, but that's exactly why I took a photo so there can be absolutely no doubt as to what was fitted to the engine when it was weighed. Guess I need to find a complete non-VVTi 1UZ to weigh (to either convince me or you )

Thanks for the link either way

I did also think that was a bit on the light side for a 1UZ, problem is if you Google it all the links seem to point to the same weight...

Either way, around 200kg for a 1UZ + ancillaries would be close to the mark?

It wasn't in one piece so I can't really say, but estimate is around 220kg.
Estimate means weighed every piece (with bolts) individually and added it up.
