Yep, .8 is factory spec. I still run that at 20psi with no worries, some recommend .7 at high boost theough..

platinums are generally considered a bit of a waste of money on a modded turbo car... better off with coppers and swap them frequently
Yep if you're running higher than stock boost coppers are the go, platinums tend to foul too easily.

plus a full set of coppers cost the same as 1 platinum![]()

Never had any issues with my platinums fouling. I run 0.75-0.8mm gap at 18-20psi.

Probably more to the point is, why is it not starting and what have you changed? Sounds like they could be fouled already?
all fixed dw massive air leak from stock blow off valve + old black plugs, clean em up and removed blow off valve all good now![]()

Those stock 1JZ BOVs are a bastard, mine would leak all the way up until around 1-2 PSI and eventually seal. Made it a lot slower at building boost.
I ran a piece of hose from the stock BOV's output into the cabin for a laugh once, and went for a drive while watching the boost gauge, you could see it struggling to build boost, and feel air rushing through the BOV's output, before eventually sealing up. When I backed off the throttle it blew the hose clear out of the cabin onto the road lol
Plugged off the stock BOV location and fitted a Turbosmart Dual Port BOV near the throttle body and it has improved things quite a bit.
