VZ or MZ would fit well i would imagine.
just wondering if any toyota 6 cylinder will fit in this engine bay.
it'll be using a shift kitted auto.
ideally a 1J, but if 1G will really fit, ill contemplate that, even though parts are harder to get.

1JZ would be stretching the limit by massive amounts, as would the 1MZ.
1VZ is interesting though... they're the camry vienta motor right?
how do i go about piecing up a RWD format?
G/Box etc.?

if you were using a VZ i would use the 3VZ, not 1VZ.Originally Posted by EldarO
as they are both 3L 90deg V6 engines i cannot see the 1MZ being substantially larger than 3VZ.
the v6's might be to wide for the factory rails but id give it a go.
a 1g fits but not sure on the 1j (could go in but major work)
cheers

That's how tight a 1j into an ra23 is, obviously a ta22 would be even tighter!
I am the sun
Yeah, forget a JZ engine unless you're planning to recess the firewall. 1G is a possibility but a lot of work, the TA22 has a short engine bay so an inline six will never be easy. If you really want a six I'd be investigating a V6 of some description, VZ series would be the easiest Toyota engine since there are RWD versions available, otherwise you could possibly investigate a Nissan engine like the VG series? Get busy with a measuring tape.![]()

Looks like an NA 2JZ-GE to me
o man, thats a 2JZGE.
thanks for your help everyone, i was well aware of the space constraints, as i know the TA22 is quite literally the smallest 1st gen to fit anything into.
i wasnt really gagging for a six, but with all the people running 1G's in the R series cars, and getting decent times out of them, it was a soloution i was looking at, plus i was offered an auto GTE for free. (low on compression).
it was more the bang-for buck on the import 6's compared to the 4's, slightly more initial outlay, a larger increased installation cost, for the benefit of the extra 2 cylinders.
ill look at the Vx, but at this stage, looks like an SR20DE or CA18DET (both i can get cheaper than normal because no one really wants them)... im well aware of the reason nobody wants them too
thanks again!

You retarded?? Toyota or no Motor mate... get a 3S-GTE, or if you want something easier to install the 3T-GTE is still fairly potent. How is 6 cylinders better than 4, other than being able to get more capacity without overly large pistons?? 3S-GTE will poo all over the 1G-GTE, sure its a bit more costly, and more work, but the rewards are there

In seriousness, 6cyl is definitely a tight squeeze unless you go V pattern, then you have width issues to consider. TA22 really are made for 4cylinders.

if you can fit a 1UZGTE AND SKYLINE AWD......anything will fit,
1gs do fit without firewall mods, but are still a tight fit.
how about a BEAMS 3S?
you can flame, but theres no denying, in the world of RWD, Nissan owns the 4 cylinder market, toyota owns the 6 cylinder (IMO).
id prefer to fit the six as it'd be the 1G/1J, and those motors i know for a fact respond well to light mods etc. and have enough give in the factory fuel systems to support the extra power without needing large amounts of cash.
make sense now?
id prefer to stick with toyota, but if a 6 cant fit, it means a nissan 4.
T series motors, the G series heads are getting rarer, 3TGTE even more so, parts are through the roof.
18RG much the same.
4AGE's have been raped to death by the sprinter boys.
3SGTE is a massive pain in the bum, with the only 3S ever being released RWD being the BEAMS, and probably a povo pack single cam no-ones ever heard of somewhere.
as you can see, ive really gone through my options, and been left with the most economical.
id rather a newer motor for the parts cost, and the fact that they're new enough not to need internal freshening up etc.
i appreciate you asking for further clarification, id just prefer you did it in a less condescending tone, i havent insulted you in any way, so please leave me be.
im not a noob with no idea, ive researched my options well, and i beleive this is quite a contreversial subject, as to what can physically fit.
