cleanliness i found was the key
my last spray attempt was my ta22. to this day it still shines like nothing else. i got a great result but made a few blunders along the way, happy to share.
1. when u do a pearl metallic, cover your primer with a basecoat close to the color you're going to spray. i did a dark blue pearl (amazon mica, holden color) - i ended up using tonnes of paint to get the coverage.
2. use 2 or more guns. saves changing nozzles. my guns were sub $50. i have 2 with 1.2mm nozzles - one for primer, one for color/clear, and a 2mm for hi fill.
3. each time i finish with the gun. i fill it with supercheap shit thinner and run it thru the gun to clean it up against a piece of wood. u should see the piece of wood - could be hung in the art gallery as art i reckon.
4. i use flap discs to pull paint off/lead off/back to bare thru rust then coat with anti rust, wash thoroughly, etch prime, prime then apply color. otherwise paint stripper has worked fine for me. i find the finish on bare metal seems to come up much better than on filled panels. nice and flat and neat.
i've also used all the motorspray paints/clears/thinners over the years, never an issue. my last quick coat of jam was on the corolla, that would have come up alot better if i'd have spent more time on it ; but ; it was a 100% improvement on what was already there.
i've never used 2pac (sic) - i've seen the finishes but don't have the air filtration to go with it.
i use a supercheap compressor with 50 litre tank and a little water trap.
i'll find some pics of the end result
