Definately sounds like its the turbo.
Okay, finally got the bitch 3S back together again and running, with new head etc. Now it seem to run alright and not smokey when driving as far as I can tell. But if you leave it over night. then warm it up in the morning it starts smoking out the exhaust. Not on start-up like a valve stem seal problem, (its got new seals anyways) but when it gets quite warm. After a bit of a drive it clears out and is fine. And doesn't smoke when idling / warming down. Only when you go back to it after an extended off period. So, I think its the turbo shaft seal weeping a bit of oil post shut off, (Probably does it while driveing too but you don't notice as it has no time to build up).
What do you guys think?

Definately sounds like its the turbo.
2nd confirmation, here, that its the Turbo oil seals.
Also good excuse for an upgrade.![]()
Rep points are for those who feel inadequate in other areas !
Yeah! So I need to find a BB watercooled unit with similar specs to the Garrett T4 A/R .60 compressor and .58 turbine. At least the T4 to manifold bolt pattern, I expect to have to make a new dump pipe.
I'm thinking the GT30R or 35R the bolt spacing doesn't match.- 70mm x 86mm what i've got (approx) vs 44.5mm x 86mm. but should be enough room on the manifold flange to modify. What do you rekon?
if you weld that gt 30\35 [t3] flange onto your manifold you are free to fit the turbo of your choice.
gt 30 variety turbos cost 1800 new and sell at 1000 s\hand.
then there is your self destruct ebay turbo at $650 new.
selling the car next week? in no particular need of long term friends? china is your![]()
cat-converter maybe?
(go the new turbo anyway)
Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
GT3076r with a .63 turbine housing on it would be my pick, just weld a t3 flange on your existing mani and diegrind it so there is no step, may need to fill the inside with weld abit to get a nice taper but can be done.
would be an extremely quick street car with that turbo.
cheers

maybe once or twice if it was just residual build up but not each and every time you start it, id drop the dump off and see if its oily first and also check how your breather setup is working.
maybe alot of pressure in the crankcase is forcing oil thru the rear or front seal of the turbo, alternatively what sort of PCV setup do you have?

the hose size goes down to about 3/8" on the intake. The 3S doesn't normally have a breather on the block at all does it?
