    Default Blacktop/Silvertop Alternator differences?

    Hi guys,

Searched and found that JP had found some differences between the early and late model silvertop alternators but Im wondering if there are any differences between the Silvertop and Blacktop 4AGE 20 Valve alternators.

I have a 98 model Blacktop engine and full loom and would love an alternator to fit straight up to it. I dont have much spare time to stuff around.

    Part numbers are different:

Silvertop part # is 27060-16330 (alternator)

Blacktop part # is 27060-16360 (alternator)

    So there.

    Help me!

    Thanks.

Call Toyota up and see if they can note anything particularly different. The only thing which may be different is one may have an internal regulator and the other external. But if you can find out that one is a higher Amperage then the other, then that would be the most logical reason for the change in part no's and should work fine regardless of which one you use. (Just monitor your battery voltage with your stereo and lights on as normal during the night)

Rep points are for those who feel inadequate in other areas !

If silvertop alternator physically fits, and just the plug is different then it should be a piece of cake to get it working. Just a matter of getting a silvertop alt plug (probably common to a bunch of other engines) and connecting 3 wires.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

series 2 silvertop alternator will bolt straight on and has the oval-style plug so fits straight onto the blacktop loom. Series 1 silvertop alternator has the round plug in my experience.

    I can confirm,

Thanks to the tasty Clintoris, whom sent me a Silvertop Alternator,

The Silvertop alternator of the later term with a three pin inline plug will fit and plug in on an AE111 Blacktop 20 valve.
