Default anyone using a 'Hopper Stopper' brake kit?

    hey fellas,
I am looking to buy the 'Hopper Stopper' brake upgrade kit for my AE86, and was wondering if anyone else here is using one of they're kits on their car?

290mm rotors, 2 piston PBR calipers, 1 inch master cyl.
Apparantly this setup used on race v8 Falcoons........

    any feedback?

    thanks,

    J Riftin

    Do you mean this
I have them on my car for about 6months now. They're ok once you get some heat into them. They don't seem to work all that well when cold maybe it the pad? The only thing I don't like is the 1" master cylinder that I got with the kit as it give you a solid pedal but absolutely no feel at all. I find it hard to judge how hard press the pedal as it feels like you either press too hard and lock up or not hard enough. I'm in the process of finding a smaller master cylinder something like a 7/8 or 15/16 to give me better brake feel. Once I get this sorted I think it will be pretty good, as the brakes itself does a good job of stopping the car. It just the lack of feel in the pedal that is annoying.

Hope that help with your questions.

Well we just put these calipers onto a mates XR6 turbo.. and that thing stops quick enough that your eyes bulge out. They are also standard equipment on GT Falcons. On an AE86.. I could only imagine how awesomely it would stop.

I've fitted a set to an MA61, the car is a restoration and conversion which is not drivable yet so no comment in that area.
The fitting took extra time with filing, grinding and some washers for spacers to get things aligned and centered.
The hoses could have been a tad longer and the AU discs are a loose fit on the hub spigot, I used other grease caps as the ones supplied seemed way too tight, other than that I had no problems.
It was recommended that I must use a 1" master as the original may give long pedal travel however I decided I would test the original 15/16" first thinking, 1/16" may not be enough upgrade if I do need to upgrade.

On the +ve side it looks good and the light weight alloy PBRs are tops.
Unless someone has a better kit I think it's a good way to go.

i have just fitted this kit like tom did...

the only issue i have is the caliper hits on the swaybar on full lock pushing the caliper pin in, so i cant use the brakes. also the lower control arm rubbed on the inside of the disc, massaged it slightly with special tool No. 1 and it was fine.
it went on fine other than that.

at the moment im using the standard sprinter master cylinder and will be upgrading to a R33 skyline or similar one as well.
like what has been said before they stop extremely well. had a close call the other night with a fuckstick changing lanes in front of me almost hitting me, and these saved me from a rather costly repair bill. the pedal atm feels like i have worn out pads, but you stomp on them hard and they pull up time and time again.

gave them a bit of abuse on my local twisties as well and didnt skip a beat. i recommend getting them drilled for your car and slotted, cant go wrong!

also they will definately fit behind 15" -0 offset wheels
    N/A for life...

I know Sitty runs some on his crown, seems to pull up very nicely.

    Tom86. Get some softer pads.
Master cylinder would play an important piece here.
I run similar calipers with a 1" master - the brakes work great but they really need a firm pedal before they'll haul you up.
ideally i need the VT staged master which is a 1" --> 1/1/4" apparently.
my pedal feel is pretty average, but, as i have learnt my brakes it doesn't overly bother me.

now thats a worry, especially if your doing motorkhanas and stuff that requires full lock, AND brakes,

id be speaking to them in regards to this, thats just silly! and down right dangerous!

Yeah you need firm to press the pedal quite hard before they work. Which is fine if you want maximum braking all the time, but when you stuck in peak hours traffic like I do most morning and night or if it rain it get a bit annoying .

Also wouldn't the 1 1/4" master would make it worst? ie the bigger the bore size the more effort require.

What pad does this PBR caliper use? is it just a standard pad for an AU Ford?

Spot on I've got 330mm. Really impressed I have a complaint about pedal feel. But I provided the master cylinder and I only run the fronts boosted so that may be my issue

I have been really impressed with there service so much so we got a kit for my dads 7MGTE crown and my mates supercharged ralli fart magna
