with the main studs i have always had the machine shop do them becuase i get them to line bore it at the same time.
on my 4agte should the arp main studs or head studs be screwed finger tight only or should i tension them down slightly with a allen key

i dont have a funny or cool signature.
Finger tight is fine, although it won't hurt to nip them up a bit with the allen key. They will rotate slightly when you torque the nuts down.
Thankyou +rep
As mentioned, finger tight only on the studs, as per ARP recommendations.

Will check when the head comes off in a few weeks but i put the grease it came with on them and didn't notice writing or Allen key hole then, Maybe i missed it or got ripped off.Originally Posted by fixeruperer
upside down des.
mine that i put in a couple of weeks back i lubed with the moly grease, tightened by hand, then used a 4.5mm allen key (i think) to do them up a wee bit tighter (nothing over the top)
NB : make sure you chase the threads in the block.
Heh yeah probably upside-down. Those are definitely genuine.
Gasket isn't leaking. Well put them in the right way when it come apart soon![]()
