Recaro 80's seats - how to remove the headrest?

Hi,

Does anyone know how to remove the headrest from a 1980's Recaro recliner seat?

I can side it up and down, but there is no button to press or similar to release it from the seat completely. Is there some trick to removing it?

I've got two 80's Recaro drivers seats. One is complete and in good nick execpt for missing the headrest. The other has a damaged base part but has an excellent headrest. I want to make one good one out of two for my AE82 Twinky Autocross car.
