AFAIK its always the one on the TB
Just wondering which vacuum line I'm supposed to use for the charcoal canister on a 1JZ? As far as I understand I'm supposed to use a timed vacuum port but I don't know which one that is?
I tried hooking it up with a normal vacuum source and it sucks air in through the bottom vent of the canister at idle. It's an MX83 canister and seems to have a built in one way valve already so boost shouldnt be a problem.
Here's a pic of the lines.

They all being used except the one that runs underneath the engine diagnosis connector. Looking at the diagram, it comes from before the TB so I'll try that. (It's the one that says refer to fig 77-01 on the right side of the pic)
Yes it has to be what they call ported vacuum, which is only obtainable from the throttle butterfly, easy way to check is that it should NOT have vacuum at idle & the vacuum should increase as the RPM speed increases ...
Yeh, i found mine came from the infront of the throttle body, but had a hard tube that wrapped underneath the plenum and popped back out on the wide down near 77-01. Or something around that anyway
But it was painted black, i remember that... I'll get a pic if you need it...

I ran it to the hard line that comes out under the diagnosis box and it seems to work fine.
When I used a vacuum line after the throttlebody it sucked air through the canister vent, but when I used the 77-01 line it doesn't suck air through and there's no change in revs so all good.
17650 represents the electronic valve that was connected to my charcoal cannister... there may be another illustration available on the epc showings its correct installation...
