Default Struts with same bearings and boltspacing as XT130/RT132

For the next iteration of my brake upgrades im moving to the Mazda FC calipers. However, a quick trial fit on a spare CPH setup has shown that the Corona strut is no way able to fit the FC caliper even with fancy bracketry.

So im after a new strut, which has a removable caliper mounting plate, akin to the stock AE86 struts. But with the larger Corona bearings, as i have cooked stock AE86 bearings before.
It needs to be the same steering boltspacing as the Corona/AE86 strut as well, as i have too much invested in those bits.

What is out there which fits this?

Does RA40 have the same steering arm bolt spacing as Corona/AE86? If so an option?

RA40 does have a removable caliper mount I'm quite sure.

    Cheers

Very interesting. Pity i junked an entire RA40 with struts intact.
Thankfully they still have them at the wreckers.

    Thanks wilbo +rep.

RA28 also.. I use FC calipers on my RA28 struts.. Had to mod the bracket somewhat, but pretty easy stuff. Works well.

Are RA28 the larger bearing though? Or are they still the small AE86 size bearing like the TA22?

Also, what discs are you using with your setup? Is it listed in your members ride thread?

I'm putting FD calipers on xt130 struts. Over 294mm discs.

FC/FD calipers on XT130 struts will be a righteous pain in the arse. The caliper mounts line up too closely. Although if you are spacing it out then it should be ok.
Im putting mine on 272mm discs, to fit under 14s. So ill probably have to go custom anyway, thanks Joel.

I think the size of your disc is the prob. Mine spaces the caliper far outboard enough that the mount tabs on the strut fit nicely between the tabs on the caliper. I'm machining my own adapter and it's pretty simple.
My issue is keeping the disc far enough away from the LCA without driving the caliper into the wheel. Again, some machine work. It's a very fine happy medium.

why not use s13 strut tops, you have to file the bolt spacing toward he centre about 1mm on each hole on the body and they slot in perfect?.....

    cheap also.....

    random suggestion

Might be hard to find over your way, but TT132 have a much wider caliper spacing that the XT and RT (as I found out the hard way).

Huh, i fail to understand? How is using S13 strut tops going to help me get 272mm rotors and FC calipers under 14" rims?

Thanks, but i made the mistake of not going with modifiable struts the first time, im not going down that route again.

What about cutting the two caliper mount tabs off the strut, and machining up a custom bracket that picks up the caliper and bolts to the 4 dust shield bolt holes on the strut? From memory the dust shield bolts are m8's so 4 of them should have enough shear resistance.
    Does that make sense?
