So what kind of cable movement does a B&M shifter have? The camry is 10mm per shift, so if I can relate that to what a B&M one is I should be able to get a starting point of where to put the point on the arm. Might be similar to MV's arm length.
mine worked perfectly for 5 years till i changed transmissionsOriginally Posted by The Real Roadrunner

So finally got it all sorted..
If anyone wants to use a Camry shifter, the shift points on it are 12mm apart and 19mm for park.
On the gearbox the shifter cable needs to be mounted at 68.84mm from the pivot.

Sorry to dig up, but I've just mounted my pro ratchet into the car, and tried to put the cable in.
I've got the cable pointing forward out of the shifter, through the floor and doing a 'S' to them point to the front of the car again.
I then ran the cable through the MV bracket and attached it to the MV arm. (Which is pointing upwards, IE the base of the arm is at the pivot on the selector and the top of it is north of that facing the floor pan).
What the hell do I do next? not knowing a lot about how to figure out these shift points, and reading about the arm supposed to be pointing down, I'm a little worried.
Also, to make the bracket fit my 1uz auto, I had to drill out one of the holes a bit to ensure that it would bolt to my gearbox. That isn't likely to cause a problem is it? looks like the B&M cable is adjustable anyway.
What the hell should I do next?
SORRY FOR THE PHOTO SIZE BELOW!!!!
Mate I might be wrong and don't want to give you wrong info.. But I thought with the B&M kit the arm points downwards, and you bolt their bracket to the bolt holes for the sump pan.
nup, I don't get it at all. How on earth is that bracket going to bolt onto the sump pan bolts?
Distance between the sump bolts, is the same as where you have it mounted.
Mount here, sideways, and have the arm faced down, and it should work.

Like jzk25's crown (Hurst shifter, but same theory)

It does, when I was building up the 1uz coaster I got one of those kits to try and fit..
The shape of it actually suits the channels in the side of the sump pan.. As mentioned I can't confirm it is actually correct way to do it, but it does bolt up that way and using the arm that is supplied in the kit it all lines up nicely..
With the lip of the sump, I used a few washers to space it down..
