Toyman75 I'm thinking what you are thinking, "kinda (3T)", am
hopeful someone can help, I am buying manuals but no luck yet.

What are the sizes of the master and slave in a original RA28.

My RA28 (I am finishing another blokes conversion) now has a 3T
and W55 I am wondering what car did they came out in and what
master and slave did they have. Example MC-5/8 and S-13/16.

    Thanks

    Rod....

come around to my garage to have a look at the RA28 if you like.
I've got both the original RA28 master and RA28 (w50) slave fitted to my W58/18RGE combo.

The PBR W50 slave is a handy little fucker... cos it has adjustment nuts on it to get the right clutch "grab" height with the pedal. I had to modify it a little (cut down the threaded shaft)... but it works pretty well.

It works for me cos im using a 22R bellhousing... i dont know how the mounting pattern differs to a 1G bellhousing.

The other option of course is using the adjusters on the master cylinder actuator arm... but not sure if that will help much. Your clutch does grab quite close to the floor from memory.

    Karl,

I already use the thread adjustable pushrod from a TA22 to get the length. I just dont get a travel ratio I like between the stock master cylinder and the CLutch slave.

Is there an online catelogue for this stuff anywhere ? I need to fix the fucker.

hey... seems yld-16l already posted something

    http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9380

    RA28 Master = 15.87mm
    RA28 Slave = 19.05mm

    RA65 Master = 15.87mm
    RA65 slave = 20.64mm

Seems RA40 and RA28 have the same master cylinder... but the RA40 got the bigger slave (20.64mm), but is a different part number to the RA65 slave.

Have a look in that catalogue Rod... you'll find some options.

    Seconded...

It looks like no amount of swapping the clutch master around will help, as they all seem to be 15.87mm.

So, given we're running the 15.87/20 or 22mm bore combination, and we don't like it, it must be the different pedal lengths/travel between a GA70 and RA2x that gives you a feeling of a worse "ratio" (for lack of a better term) in our cars. Either that... or the GA70's have that crap feeling ratio as well?

So, off to search the catalogue for a W58-equipped car with an approx 19mm slave

A smaller bore Slave sure seems to be the answer. The hard part now will be finding one that bolts on.

Karl, Do youhave a pic of the W50 slave ? I am pretty sure that while the bolt spacing to mount it is correct themounting tabs are on the wrong side of the Cylinder.

.... this is just from memory....

    - slave is on drivers side of bellhousing
    - the slave sits below the mounting tabs, and actuates towards the front of the car.

this is a couple of pics i found on google.

    Karl,

The issue at hand comes down to what side of the car the exhaust comes out from the factory. The Slave cylinder is to the best of my knowledge always mounted on the opposite side to the exhaust.

The RA25/23/28 and TA22 all have the clutch slave cylinder on the Drivers side from the factory - You can not mount these on the passenger side.

The 1G-FE 6 speed, SA63 and 1G-GTE slaves are all on the passenger side. The Toyota Crowns slaves are also on the pasenger side and are even 19.05mm bore BUT the bolt spacing to mount them is wrong and they are a shorter body slave cylinder which offsets any gain from the smaller size bore. What a PITA.

I have ordered a new SA63 clutch slave cylinder (JB4154) and a new RA28 master (JB1140) which will just have to do for now - hopefully I will get a chaqnce to fit them up real soon (Has to be done before NRMA Motorfest).

    Craig,

I actually have a new clutch master here for the MS75 and it is the same bolt spacing as the RA28 item so if the new cylinders continue to shit me I may give it a whirl

I think this little pot of gold might be updated... not sure anything we might reference is changed, but I figure it can't hurt...

Did anyone ever find a larger clutch master cylinder? I need a 3/4" master cylinder for my RA28.. changing clutch slave is NOT an option..
I heard rumors of Hilux working but then rumors also said no good.
