Default snapped cast iron can i glue/epoxy?

hi everyone i have a question about cast iron

i broke off a piece of me speedo sensor in my soarer when i was installing it back in. now the piece that broke off was an arm piece that holds in in. its only about 20mm wide and 5 - 10mm deep

my question is: is there any kind of glue or epoxy that i can use to glue this arm back on. its doesn't supply that much for to hold the speed sender in. and i can't imagine it getting TO hot down there towards the back of the gear box.

is the fact its cast iron going to affect anything i use?

    thanks for any suggestions

    pic of broken bit?
there are some strong epoxies out there, but your usual 5min stuff is not the best
at worst, use one of the the long cure araldites..

if you were to use epoxy, you woul dneed to thoroughly degrease the surfaces with good solvent (not turps or any other oily crap!!!) and apply to surfaces and make sure no bubbles etc, then squish together good. and wait for it to fully cure

edit.. if the epoxy is acidic.. then it will not be good... (i dunno if they are or not tho.. don't think so)
also, don't use (much) heat to help cure the epoxy faster. it can help to cause cracking and seperation of the glue from the metal.. unless the fracture surface is very rough.

Try JB weld. I've had excellent results on cast alloy with it.

JB weld is epoxy with metal filler?
better than 5min araldite for sure, and at least you know it works

+2 for JB Weld or DevCon - either are fucking strong glues.

yup the rest of em are right , slow cure epoxy the best and if you want extra strength once its glued drill down through the centre of two pieces and insert metal pin with more epoxy( cut off stainless pin or nail) this will prevent load fracturing later. But only if you have the room to drill a small hole

I'm quite sure bursons stock JB weld.

I'd be tempted to glue a piece of light sheet metal across the face/s of the broken bit for a little extra adhesive surface area. If there is a side that is under tension, i'd put the plate on that side if possible.
Give and smooth-ish surfaces a going over with rough sand paper and, as OC mentioned degrease like crazy. Brake cleaner is good.
A bit of heat (on parts that can take it) will sweat out any oil that remains before a final degreasing.

    i get mine from coventries.

simular to mentioned above, depending on how much pressure is on that part when tightened down just joining the 2 peices together might not be enough.

indeed, but i would use some thin aluminium.

after looking at your piccie mate my drilling idea wont really work, personally I would get that welded or replaced
(anyone who tells you you cant weld cast iron is wrong I welded up my vice quite a while ago when the jaw snapped off and its held up for 5 years now)

clean up the edges and bevel them so you can fill it up then redrill bolt hole, if you cant find anyone to do it send it to me , if I cant fix it I will help you buy new one

You would probably be better off making a small springy bracket to hold it in. All this bracket does is stop it from coming out. It won't rotate, so all you need is something keeping it in there.
