    I got a Detriot Truetrac for my Hilux diff.

    I think you will find some original Torsen Toyota diffs will go in there no hassle.

    the hilux 4x4 came with a rear LSD they crop up pretty regularly. they arnt really tight enough for one wheel up in the air sort of abuse you give them off roading but they certianly LSD quite well on blacktop.

    Surfs and hiluxes came out with LSDs in the back and some surfs with them in the front Hilux diffs are pretty universal and all pretty much fit any other hilux (apart from the very new sheep shagger ones) they are relatively easy to come by but not very cheap. It may be hard to find one your ratio but you can just swap over the crown wheel off yours onto the LSD center and put it together in your diff.

    prefer a detroit over a kazz....... Look at the 4wd comps. 70% are using detroit lockers. and the abuse they take its pretty harsh........ never heard them running kazz centers in comps

    A KAAZ will take just as much abuse as a detroit but the reason 4wd guys dont use them is due to the fact that they don't lock 100% and most guys in 4wd cant justify spending 1600 odd dollars on a kaaz (or similar) when a "locker" will do the job they require for less money.

    Most of the 4wd comp guys will use an air locker if they want total control over their diffs.

    Different strokes for different folks but the way i would list it would be.

    Drag = spool
    Track = KAAZ or similar
    Street = True trak or similar
    4WD comps = Air Locker
    tighter budget = detroit style locker
    $50 pockets = BOC locker

    Cheers
