    Default 4M Intake manifold questions

    Hey guys,

Got a 80' MX32 Cressida, late model 4M with all the emission shit, I have recently bought early 4M intake manifold and carby, to eliminate some of the pollution shit, and make it idle in the morning, is there anything that I should be aware of when doing this conversion it will all bolt up yeah?

    Thanks guys,

Brad (GT you might know the answer)

Early 4M manifold will not fit as the bolt pattern and ports are different.

    You're kidding me, damn it!

Does the old 4M head bolt onto the new block?

    Thanks

Don't think the old head will bolt to the block either. Old heads use separate bolts for the head and rocker assembly. Later ones use bolts that go through the whole lot all together.

    Brad,

Send PeteH on these forums a PM, He has an intake manifold from an early 4M that has been modified to fit a late 4M head. Offer him a little coin and I am sure he will part with it.

Yeah, early model SOHC intake and exhaust manifolds don't bolt up to late model SOHC M motors. Bolt and port spacings are different. Have seen them modified to fit - have seen twin carb manifolds on late model 4 and 5Ms - redrill and port matching.

DOHC stuff doesn't bolt up to the SOHC stuff.

Hi, Just took the 2M engine out of my 70' Crown MS51. Looking at having dual or triple carbs.... I already have a set of triple dellortos 40" on hand and was about to have a custom made intake manifold made. To make things easier I was thinking if a 4M intake with dual carbs bolts on the 2M and where I can get one....Any help?
