If the 3S is a painful conversion then so would a V6. The problem isn't length, it's overall size and weight, just picture in your head the standard 1.6L 4-cylinder engine getting replaced with a 3.0L V6 in a small FWD engine bay, and you'll see the problem. Or, go look in an SXV10R engine bay and see how much room there is, then go look at a V6 version and see how much of that room disappears.
