Default Can ST205 Head be mated with ST185 Block ?

I would like to know this :

Does the ST205 Head can be installed into the ST185 Block ?

If it can, what are the advantages ?? If I still use the ST185 OEM camshaft will it fit into the ST205 head ??

i have an odd feeling of NO. im pretty sure there were significant revisions to oil and water galleries in the gen3 revision. although im not sure if these were internal to the head only and the mating surface onto the block is the same or if the mating surfaces changed as well.

i'm pretty sure the headbolts straight on and you just need to make sure you use the gen3 HG. benefits are removal of TVIS and better flow for the inlet due to only 4 intake runners.

i wouldnt use the standard st185 cams. they arent as good as the st205 ones.

Thanks for the advice, really appreciated.
Could you tell me where can I get OEM ST205 camshaft ? Used ones are fine with me as long as the conditions are still useable. What would be the price for it ?

When you purchase a gen 3 3S-GTE head (which is found in the ST205) then you should receive the camshafts (two of them as it is a twin cam) with the head. The Gen 2 (ST185) cams will already be in your car's engine, but as they are part of the assembled head, you will be removing them when you pull the head off to replace it.

From the sounds of your words, you need to do some basic engine inner working research before you undertake such a venture.

Thanks for the advice. I'd replaced the following :

    > ceramic coated piston plus ring
    > ACL Race bearings ( complete )
    > ARP Head Bolts
    > 1.5 mm Head Gasket
    > 1mm valve
    > Port Polished
    > Engine balanced
    > Replaced with CT20B Turbo
    > Replaced with new head gasket kit ( complete )
    > Replaced with new water pump
    > Replaced with new oil pump

With the above mods, do you think is there other things I should work on ? Kindly reply. Thanks.

So why are you wanting a ST205 head if you have had the ST185 head modified with 1mm O/S valves?
