those mounts look like they've been moved out so the 3tgte could sit lower. is the sump sitting on the crossmember currently?
hey,
im doing a engine conversion in my ta22, the car originally had a 3tgte turbo transplanted. i am now putting a fresh 2tg engine in it.
Now my problem faced is the engine mounts dont line up well when the 2tg is in. I was under the impression 3tgte engine upgrade is a bolt in upgrade and vise versa. This doesnt seem to be the case, below are some pictures i have taken of how it lies atm, the mounts just dont seem to line up nicely at all. The car also has a modified cross member to suit the 3tgte but shouldnt the 2tg still just bolt up to it. As the blocks are the same. i was lead to believe ( in previous tech threads) that the 2tg, 2t 3t and 3tgte (oil lines but still can bolt in) blocks are all the same, until today
.
Any ideas why this is so?
theres a gap on each side as shown in the pictures
lhs mount
rhs mount
any advice much appreciated
thanks

theres a 1cm gap between the cross member and the sump but sits nicely when looked from underneath.
moving the mounts lower shouldnt really affect it? arnt the blocks the same though?
The 3tgte mounts sit further outbound than 2t mounts.. So probably been moved.
have a look at this; http://www.toycrazy.net/tech/pics/3tgtemounts.jpg 3tgte brackets look alot longer then the 2tg ones, i'd say get the brackets off the 3tgte and bolt them to the 2tg block and it'll go in no doubt or swap your crossmember for one of your other ones. is that rack and pinion in the background? do tell![]()
thanks fellas okay im the lookout for some 3tgte engine mounts'.
i cant swap the cross member mate as this one has the rack and pinion convo done to it. dont want to go stock man.
cheers boys
Would the 3tg mounts be the same as 3tc in t18? If so, there are heaps of them around.
My understanding was that 3tgte mounts were different as there was room for the oil drain from the turbo to run down through the mount.. Where 2t and 3t engines didn't require this.
The engine mount brackets are not supposed to be symetrical. You have 2 from the one side of an engine. Get the other longer one, and all will be sweet.
cheers Chuck.

hey mate, i just checked the rhs mount is smaller than the the lhs engine mount, the used mounts are different in size, its the camera playing tricks mate lol.
thanks mate
There are different generations of T series mounts. Yes the 3T-GTE factory mounts have the oil line running through them, however they are the same spacing as late 2T-G mounts. For example the TA61 with 2T-GEU has the identical crossmember to the TA63 with the 3T-GTEU, and is also the same as the 3T-E powered TA63. T18 mounts should solve your problem, the TA22 runs narrower spacing generally so looks like your crossmember was modded to fit the wider mounts.

okay so its t-18 mounts im after, if i cant find any will have to weld a new mount up but obviously finding a mount will be alot easier than making new ones up.
thanks
If you want pics or measurements let me know, got a TT142, a TA63 and a TA61 setup here.

hey callum i will let u know but at the moment everything is sweet thanks for the heads up mate, we are just going to make custom mounts its easier to make them then source mounts and find out they are incorrect too.
quick question the ta22 diff was said to be an LSD diff, now when the car is jacked up i rotated one wheel and other one spins too but i can stop it spinning using my hand. Now the question is how do i know if it is lsd or not? im hoping its lsd LOL but this may not be the case.
cya
LSD will generally spin both wheels same direction, open wheeler spins opposite direction. Give it a spin by hand with box in neutral and see what happens
