Have you tried getting another opinion (ie, someone besides injectronics).
Someone else may be able to repair it.
hi there guys. i have been wrestling with a poxy TCR10 tarago. i need a new computer for it. it appears to be made out of unobtainium. toyota can maybe get one for $1800-ish. i have tried 2 wrecker computers with no success.
the drama seems to be the computer is getting everything it needs but has no trigger to the igniter. has anyone run across this ? i even tried sending the old computer to injectronics. it wasn't able to be repaired and nothing else was apparently even close.
any suggestions ? aside from burn it of course.

what motor is it? 3Y or similar?
Cruzida- no. i hadn't thought about it too much after that.
Chuckster- it's a 2TZ. poxy thing laying on its side.
and i've tried 2 wrecker computers. neither worked. one was auto, one was manual. neither the same number as this one though.

sorry - everytime i hear Tarago, i think 3Y motor for some reason.
How does the ECU get trigger(s) signals? If not driving the ignitor then is it driving the injectors when cranking?
They're the Egg-van, so _reasonably_ common, I think the problem is finding one with complete electricals.....Originally Posted by cuzzo

i whacked an oscilloscope onto the dizzy. all 3 signals coming out loud and clear. all powers and earths in place. with a noid light, the injectors pulse once. then nothing. no ignitor signal from the computer.
and this computer 89661-28411 seems to be rare.

It sounds like you have checked things pretty thoroughly, but is there any chance that there is something simple causing it? Missing earth to ignitor? Dodgy wire somewhere? Power hooked up slightly wrong?
Check for ECU codes, that might give you a hint too.
It just seems strange to me that 3 computers would come up with the same problem if it is an internal ECU problem.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
the first computer was destroyed when the douche who owns it pressure cleaned the interior of his car. he blew water and mud into the computer. then left it for a few weeks. the only code it gives is 14- no ignitor feedback. i don't think the ignitor is the problem if there is no signal to it.

If injectors pulse once, then nothing, its more likely a fault with the ingitor.

Is there a tacho out on the ECU? The 1 pulse only suggests they're a priming pulse and the ECU isn't getting or processing timing data from the dizzi.
If you could spin the dizzi up by hand and see if you get a tacho out on the ECU you'd at least eliminate input processing on the ECU (and point fingers at the spark output driver).
The aforementioned owner could have put a big, muddy, wet, short in the ignitor (btw: have you tested whether it is able to fire a coil if driven by something else?) and then when you powered up the ECU it then kills the ignitor driver on the ECU?
thanks chuckster. i'll give that a wallop.

as far as I know, you MUST match numbers on TCR 10 ECUs, so getting just any computer wont work...
