    Default Selby swaybars...same as Whiteline?

Been spending far too much money on the new toy lately, i was going to get Whiteline bars for it, but a trader have offered me 'Selby' bars. I was under the impression that they were bought out by whiteline ages ago...has anyone got any experience with the product recently?

If he's offering Selby bars then they would want to be Whiteline or he's breaking TM rules.

The original owners of Selby Swaybars started a new company called "Signature" swaybars.

Having used both types in identical cars i can tell you i would go for the Whiteline stuff, the fitting kits are much better
and if you have ever tried to drill or file spring steel you would know how much of a kent it is, 3 out of the 5 "signature" bars needed this, not to mention the bushes are shite.

Perfect answer...there's almost no price difference, so I'll go for the Whiteline product.

i don't think selby bars are whiteline gear.

As the IPRA NSW eligibilty officer works/sells selby bars.

I will get an answer from him.

Whiteline originally bought out Selbys to broaden their range and marketed them under the whiteline name for a while.

Last year whiteline moved production to some third world country to make their products cheaper.

Selbys starts operating again under their own name, making their parts in australia.

So now Selbys swaybars are the same product as old whiteline swaybars when they were made here.

I would trust the quality and service of the Aus made selbys gear over the out sourced whiteline stuff, also keep the money in australia and support local manufacturing and all that jazz.

fitment on selby stuff is a bit how-ya-goin

only going from a rear additional brace i got for my pulsar

installed on a stock height car, would work alright but on a lowered one it fouls one of our lower control arms on either side, and the brackets you get with it that bolt to the chassis look like they were made in a yr 7 workshop class

so had to use longer bolts that link to the control arms, with a bit of tube in the middle of the bushes to space it out a touch. the front swaybar i had fit fine though

This is true, ive had to fit a few. None have been right. Mind you the Whiteline gear hasnt been great in recent years either. Kmac is right out.

Ive also heard the "rah rah rah, Whiteline is bullshit these days, go buy Selbys gear" before. Heard it from someone who likes to slag out every product which isnt his own...

until 3 weeks ago i worked for the NZ agent of whiteline, nolathane and whiteline plus
whiteline is still made in aussie

whiteline bought selby out and shifted production to another part of oz
some selby staff started to remake some of their old range again under a different name (what roadrunner is talking about)
whiteline, nolathane and noltec (recently rebranded it as whiteline plus) are all owned by redranger

that is how it was officially explained to me personally by the nz redranger product manager

this straight from Gary Cook. This is his reply

    Thanks, it's a simple story

When Whiteline merged with Nolathane to form Redranger in 2007, they sold the manufacturing business for the swaybars, links and fitting kits. This business, now called Selbys Swaybars, manufacturers Whiteline and Pedders swaybars as well as making swaybars that sell under their own brand name. The high volume, simple design Whiteline swaybars, basically Commodore and Falcon, are made in Korea while the low volume and complex swaybars are made locally by Selbys Swaybars. Whiteline only sell catalogued swaybars while specials, shapes and diameters, are available from Selbys Swaybars.

From a Toyota viewpoint almost all of the swaybars sold under the Whitleine, Selbys or Pedders brand names are made locally in Sydney by Selbys Swaybars. There is no difference in the raw materials, the equipment used to make them, the master designs or the people making them. The only difference is the colour of the bars, their packaging and the retail outlets they are available from.

If you want a special design, to say clear a larger sump or fit a different engine, or want a non catalogued diameter swaybar, then Selbys Swaybars are the best solution. Which is why a large number of the cars racing in Improved Production choose them.

As far as I know Selby were bought by whiteline...many of us have old selby stuff from pre whitleline takeover in our celicas...really they will probably come out of the same R&D house, and since oth have a solid reputation dont expect major differences in quality...
