    Default what do you think about chinese 4y engines?

    hi, has any one had any experience with 4y chinese engines ?

    are they crap or ok ?

    please tell me your thoughts and experinces

    If they're anything like the 22R a friend of mine bought lat last year,it'd be wise to stay away. his wore the cam lobes off in 3 months...

    Stuff out of china is a bit hit and miss. it all depends on who's doing the QA signoff. if it's an offshore-based company,you might be ok,if it's the little chinese company doing it themselves,you're much more likely to have trouble.

    Have you tried a local shop to rebuild your own engine yet?

    What's the matter with the block? if the bores are worn out and have been bored beyond what oversized pistons are available it could be sleeved and decked to bring it back from the dead.

    a split bore could also be fixed by sleeving.

    i put a chinese 4y in my dads gutlux over a year ago now.. runs like a charm

    the block is corroded at the back , very thin
    head gasket wont seal
