you'll find the centre bore of the rims is the wrong size (larger on the Honda) so it won't sit on the hub properly without locating rings, but I believe most FWD Toyota steelies are +38 offset and 5 inches wide.
Hey guys
Do FWD Hondas, Mitsus, and such all run the same/very similar offsets to Toyota? Wanting to know if a set of steelies from an EG Civic will suit my Ae82.
Obviously they'll bolt up, just wondering where they'll sit in relation to the guard, suspension, brakes, etc.
Also how important is the centre hole diameter on the rim itself?

he was asking for the AE82 though... I was thinking more of the 13 and 14 inch steelies used back then![]()
Ok thanks guys, looks like they're about the right offset. I think the Honda stuff is +40 or so. They seem to fit ok, the reason I asked is that they seem to sit out a tiny bit... but my suspension is half undone so it's hard to know really until I do everything back up and take it for a quick drive to settle the suspension.
So does it matter if the wheels don't sit on the hub centre? I figure that tapered wheel nuts would centre them anyway.

it puts extra stress on the wheel studs if the hub centre is not matched, and tapered nuts are not always 100% accurate in centering/balancing the rim in place.
So what does everyone do that has aftermarket rims... do they all come with off-the-shelf spacer options?

most come with locating rings.

ok cool.. the only thing is that the tyre shop ones will no doubt be OD as per the aftermarket wheel and ID as per Toyota... but I want OD as per the Honda wheel and ID as per Toyota.... so I either need some custom made, or to find an aftermarket wheel for a Toyota that happens to have the same centre hole as a Honda.

stop in at a largish wheel/tyre place and ask the question.
They often have piles of locating rings of all different sizes available.
You may need to visit a few, but you should be able to find some.
Ok cool. I'll measure the hub centre and the opening in the wheel and see what I can drum up![]()
