Default Excessive blowby caused by overfilling engine oil.

So i had a pretty bad day today, i was trying to get the oil level in the car right yesterday but because i only reconditioned the engine about a week ago the oil was so clean i couldnt tell if i was over or not, it seemed to run fine anyway. But today it just conked out, there was heaps of pressure in the crankcase, and eventually the crankcase was letting out air just like the exhaust was. Fkn hell hey.... :'(
Anyway my question is, would the overfilling of the oil cause this blowby? There are new rings and new gaskets and everything. Or did i just stuff something up when putting it together.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
yes, i own a car, it has four wheels and an engine. and in the end, isn't that what really matters

How much over full is it ? if its only a litre or two its not ideal but would not be causing your problems but if its overfull by many litres it could cause some problems but it would have to be way way over ..

Sounds like youve got a different problem

    Got a compression tester?

    Hi,

firstly your crankcase shouldn't build up pressure like that. Next is have you figured out why it stopped? Have you had it running since then? What engine etc etc

you know that if you fill it up even by a few litres the crank can hit the oil cause it to froth, from this the oil pump cant pick up froth = no oil to vital engine components!
but it should have lubed the cylinders walls(thinking of piston ring wear), so is it pushing oil into the inlet via PCV? That could cause it not to run.

Did it blow smoke before stopping?

As said before do a compression test, also look at the colour of the plugs

next time check specs on fluid quantities and fill to that give or take 0.5L

also when the oil is clean on a dip stick. get light to reflect on the oil on the check area, you should be able to see a difference in reflection between the dip stick and the oil.

how is it that you can reco an engine but can not work out the oil level?

is it outside the car or you have no dipstick or something?

After reading that article DropBear posted.
    I have thought the same.
I had 2 mates that bought motorbikes at the same time, same type of bike
one of the blokes run it in as per directions. the other fella said stuff it and gave it what for from the start.
the bike that got thrashed from day one ate the ran in bike easy. I think the thrashed bike out lasted the other one too.
I have heard of this happening before.
    sorry about the hi jack
