Default Bedding in a new clutch.... Specifically a button clutch

I have just put a new Exedy Sports Tuff Button Clutch and new Fidanza Aluminium Flywheel in PHOBIA. Click HERE to see the full install!

Anyway, as it’s a button clutch, and slipping in general is a no no, what is the procedure, any of you with experience, have followed to bed it in?

I will be doing the round trip for Mega Cruise this Sunday (about 400klms). Im sure this will bed it in well and truly, but is there anything I need to do/not do during these first few hundred klms?

Thanks in advance for your advice and see you all at Mega Cruise. Nath.

Thats the same clutch I installed in my MR2 3sgte. I used the standard flywheel though. No bed in procedure. I just drove it sensible for about 15 to 20km, then did what ever I felt like honestly. Haven't had a problem or anything and its been around 4 months now.

I don't drive that car nice either.

Actually I just did some checks and I got the step down from the button clutch, I got the cushioned button clutch. which has the cushion plates between the button instead of the solid plate.
    Sorry about that.

but if I do remember we didn't do a bed in on the race car with a button clutch on the back of a 3tg hybrid. button I'm not 100%sure.

Sounds easy enough. Cheers for your advise.

I knew nothing about bedding in button clutches when I got my first one. Of course once fitted I went out to do skids to test if my new super-clutch worked. Unfortunately it didn't and I glazed some sections of the clutch plate and it wouldn't hold to much at all.

A new clutch plate and a couple of hundred km of "nice" driving and the clutch has been fine ever since. Not sure if it needs to be a couple of hundred, but no big clutch drops to start with.

yeah just go easy on it for the first little bit

and then no slipping at all if u can help it, buttons heat up REAL quick when u slip em and u will end up with hot spots on ur flywheel.

also, i can tell u that u will need to inspect the clutch plate every now and then (maybe 10,000kms) so this doesnt happen as they dont play up when they run out of meat they just start eating other parts:

note: the clutch was behaving fine, no slip or shudder. it just looked like this when i pulled the motor out. goodbye clutch plate & pressure plate. looks like i have saved the flyhweel with a lot of lathe time but only just.

Hi, new here and I am looking for the bedding and I am unable to do so. I just bring out my car for shopping of quilt covers and faced the problem. I used the service who drop my car at home but its really expensive to change bedding!
