    Default Mazda 2 Boot Lock?

I know its not toyota, but hopefuly someone on here might be able to shed some light, f*cking google and mazda owners certainly cant lol

My gf's mum, has a mazda 2, and the boot is stuck shut. I've pulled the little access hole off, and can see the mech. But cant seem to be able to manually release it.
The handle moves what its supposed to, and what its supposed to move, seems to be moving.
The latch itself i can move a little bit, but cant un latch it all the way around with the little space, and crappy tools.

Does anyone have a mazda 2 they can have a quick squiz at, maybe take a few happy snaps at how the latch actualy looks and that, so i can get a bit of a better understanding of how to open this f*cker...

Or someone with access to a service manual might even be better

If not, then mazda can deal with it...

    Cheers,

Are you trying to open it with the key or the boot release thing under the seats?

Don't know the Mazda model, but thinking it may be like some of the SV21 camrys, the boot key lock of them had two positions, one would not let the release inside the car to work, for added boot security... you had to turn the key with the boot shut to do this though...

    Just a thought...

If it's the first-gen Mazda 2, then I don't think it has a boot release - you have to use the key. Parental units have one, but they're several suburbs away and I'm lazy.

Not sure which Mazda 2, but its the one before the current shape im pretty sure.

Also, it has no boot release, it has a key and a handle on the boot.
Moving the handle moves the mechs, but one seems to be stuck and not doing anything. The latch though, is not stuck, i can get a small amount of movement into it with a screw driver, not enough though to unlatch it...

There have only been 2 Mazda 2 series (DY and DE, apart from updates of course), and the current model has a button on the hatch instead of a handle, so it sounds like you've got a DY (same as my parents)

Apart from that, can't be any help
