Default What ecu's or piggybacks are people using on their 1jz's???

    Hi,
I have a fairly stock 1jz, i have upgraded to 550cc injectors as i got them at a good price and they will come in handy when i increase my power.
Im using a rising rate fuel reg and running air fuels of about 11.5:1 on full boost... i would like to run a bit leaner but i cant as it would run too lean just as it comes on boost if i wound my fuel pressure off anymore.
And on 15psi and higher iam starting to get some detonation, so im thinking i definately need to pull some timing out...

Solution... piggy back or full aftermarket ecu, this way i can play with the duty cycle on my injectors and get my car running a little bit leaner up the top and make some more power and also pull some timing so that i dont have detonation issues.

I wanted to use a haltech piggyback but have been told they arent much good on a 1jz if it has larger injectors.

I want to see how much power i can possibley get out of factory turbos.

What are other people using and what are your suggestions????
    Thanks in advance

I ran my old 1j on a microwreck/lebtech. Not the fanciest option around, but it did exactly what I wanted.

It really depends what you want the ECU to control (in-car I mean), and how many dollars you have to play with.

Stock turbos can generally pull around 250rwkw reliably. There are people making more, and people breaking them with less, but aim for that and it's a fairly safe bet (although the turbos are out of their efficiency range by that stage)

Hmm, didn't occur to me that haltech made a piggyback. They can be picked up very cheaply secondhand by the looks, shame it seems there is no plug n play loom option...

You are always better off with an interceptor ECU that modifies the injector signal rather than modifying the load sensor signal when switching to bigger injectors.

Emanage blue can do AF, Injector and Ignition (with the additional harnesses).
Can pull some good results on the non vvti 1jz

Is the VVTI 1jz harder to get power out of when tuning?

get emanage or emanage ultimate. Put fuel pressure back to stock. Tune properly

i agree, for $300-400 for EM blue, cheap alternative. Many good things done with a 1J.
also allows control of 50% over std injectors.

    Yeah, I'll second that.
If you get an Ultimate, get the EManage MAP sensor and the also a cable to hook up a wide band AFR (I use an Innovate LM1) and let the EManage Ultimate do the fine tuning after you've done a injector map percentage change.
Reduce the injector open times (in the injection map) by the same percentage increase that the new injectors are over the old ones, then let the EMU chase the target AFRs.
It's auto tuning is very good.

There is an Australian mob who sell Emanage stuff, but their prices are rather rude.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Press...Q5fAccessories is an excellent price for the MAP sensor and extension lead. I've seen people trying to sell them for over $100 not including freight

And yes, EMU does ignition timing, both advance and retard. Some (American) interceptors won't/can't advance the ignition timing.
