why is that so hard to find
please help

I have been looking for service manual on a 1uz-fe
I want to rebuild my 1uzfe. I need to know how to disassemble and re assemble the engine
what are the torque and tension settings. and things like that.
I cannot find any thing beyond changing the cam belts on the internet , why is that.
I want to take the heads off.

That info is hard to find as 1UZ's are that reliable that most never need to be opened.
Why do you want to change the headgaskets?

Thanks for your interest.
maybe I don't the engine has been siting around for a long time before i started it in my modified TR7
the top of the engine all the crossover water necks are leaking i have coolant in the valycover and rundown the gearbox , I am going to reseal all the top plumbing so just to be sure i was going to do the head gaskets.
other than that the engine is in good shape and has good mechanical s and its worth the work.
DO you think the heads could be leaking or should i just leave it?
need advice?
cheers Rod
First reseal all the leaking hoses/crossovers and go from there. A head gasket won't start to leak from age like hoses/plastic might when it perishes. If your still not convinced you could go do a compression test which would show up any problems from headgasket, rings, and valves. You can get a tester for about $50. Cheers
Agreed with ^^^^^
Unless the engine has been majorly overheated, the headgaskets will be fine.
Do front & rear main seals, cam cover seals, water pump, timing belt/tensioner, etc though.
Make sure you look at these sites from more specific info on 1UZ's.

there is no sign the engine has suferd any abuse very clean oil galeries and no burt smell, no rattly noises and it goes like shit off a shovel just been siting around a long time.
There are no oil leaks there was a weepy rear main but have already changed that.
and it was very small.
just green coolant stains all over the inlet manifold.
I will take your advice and clean up the plumbing and see what after that things are like
thanks for the help I am new to 1uz_fe motors. Just like to say what a amazing peace of engineering. GM and Ford never came close to this kind of clever V8.
thanks
best Regards Rod
I would still like to read up on how the motor disassembles and goes back together
I am very interested in doing head gaskets.
has any body got a service manual out there ?
do a search for a download able version of the soarer bible
it does both a 1jz and 1uz basic rebuild and will tell you how to do the head gasket. i have a copy here and will up load it to one of those free file hostings tonight for you if i remember.
As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are
Thank you for taking the time to do this for me
I will do a search as you suggested, I was one working on the motor today trying to find the water leaks, sure could do with some reliable data.
I need to know things that are not avalible when i do an internet search
One quick question for any body who knows, does the water pass through the intake manifold I found coolant on top of the manifold under the plenum. I cannot see how it can be there unless the water jacket passes through the manifold and it has a hole in it.
If this seem not to make scene I will post a photo.

Not through the intake manifold, no.
But it does flow through the throttle body.

the coolant in the Photo has been leaking down onto the gearbox and into the V in the Vally
what i don't understand is where and how has it got there?

Who knows...
Maybe could be cause by the coolant hoses to the throttle body leaking.
Then again... maybe some joe accidentally knocked over a bottle in that area and didnt clean it up?
You can see the two pipes for the coolant flow to the TB in that photo.
