If i recall the RA60 is a reasonable amount wider.. might run into problems there..
hey iv got an ra23 with a 18rg im building it up for time attack/drift/fun lol
well iv got the 18rg with a front sump set up and am putting ra60 crossmember into it with s13 front suspension eg. coilovers
i know people are using ke70 set up ect but was just wondering if anyone has tryed the same thing im trying to do.....
oh and iv got a chassis place to mod the crossmember to fit in the car... so shouldnt be a problem there
will post up pics when iv got the crossmember back...
but has anyone got any pics of rack and pinion set ups in ra23s? or even ra60 rack set ups in a ra23?
If i recall the RA60 is a reasonable amount wider.. might run into problems there..
The rack itself is 60mm longer on an RA60 over KE70s
im getting it shortened and the ends eg.. the bolt holes off the ra23 crossmember welded on at the correct length welded on proerly also i need the rack wider because im running s13 suspension....
this set up wouldnt work well if you are looking at retaining the stock track ect... iv got widebody guards and need to fill em![]()
A KE70 rack might be a whole lot easier to shorten down if you need to at all. Have you had a look at the stupidly long TA22 R&P thread?
i need the rack longer for the s13 suspension set up.... the crossmember is the only thing being slightly modded to fit the car......
im trying to gain as much track/lock as possible to..
so why the RA60 crossmember exactly?
if it's any good to you I can machine down your inner tie rods ends to give you more steering lock.
Is the the rack end to end length the same (or very close) to the distance between your lower control arm mounting points on the xmember?
If not, youll be introducing a world of bump-steer and other issues.
... this is why people use the KE70 setup.

yes it is i looked at s13 suspension set up in a ke70 even drove one and it was fair gay
but then i drove an ra65 with an 18rg in it and s13 suspension set up bolted in and WOW the difference was amazingpretty much drove like my 180sx drifter so thats why i have gone with this set up over ke70.....
Use S13 rack and cross member?
Would take a lot of the guesswork out, but I believe Linden (Roadrunner) has reservations with Nissan stuff re: bumpsteer once you start messing with ride height.

bumpsteer isnt really a big issue with me i mean hey i have a 180sx that is well crazy low (cant get over a speed bump AT ALL!!)
but the ra60 stuff just seams to work alot better iv already test fitted it up as low as i want with out the crossmember modded which wasnt to far out and the lower control arms aslow as i want are still on a fair angle like as in not flat and everything lines up very well...
ill post pics next week sometime when i get the crossmember back and fit it all up again...
As long as you are running standard RA60 LCA mount points, track width etc then you should have no real issues. RCA's can be used to correct things if you go too low. The main reason people don't use it is guard clearance due to the wider track, if you are willing to push the guards well out (and potentially ignore legality) then it should be no problem. The compromise usually occurs when the track is reduced from what the donor car ran. I have a full TA63 front end in my KP Starlet (4 inches per side out of the guards) and don't anticipate any problems at all when I finally get it running.

if a suspension design is decent then no amount of lowering is going to make it have bump steering.
So let me get this straight; your going to rack and pinion to upgrade your steering but then your ok with stuffing up the geometry because your ok with it not being ok?
I see no reason why S13 would make the longer rack what you want, the steering arms need to be lengthened not the rack. I beleive the KE70 rack is still the one to go for regardless of what your up to.
one of the main reasons i went ra60 is because it was free
and the reason im mainly going rack and pinion is cause the steering box set up was missing... and couldnt find one in good condition AND i have a front sump 18rg which i didnt wanna fuck with to much
i will be keeping the stock ra60 control arms and the rest of the front end will be all ra60 front end minus the hubs and coilovers there going to be s13......
oh and thats not my address lol thats my old one been years since i singned up here but ill change it anyway hahaha
