Hey guys,
Went to the drags today and really noticed how bad the axle tramp is in my jzx100 chaser. Im not sure what more i need to do to get rid of it?
Rear end compromises of JIC coilovers with 10kg springs, newly installed trd solid rubber bushes, rubber pineapples under diff mounting points and aftermarket diff brace.
From what i understand it's caused by soft suspension or flexing but the rear end package seems pretty bulletproof and stiff.
Anyone care to shed some light?
Joey

i'd have to say tension rods/ traction rods.

tried using springs instead of rocks?jk.. are they a non-direct rate like suplahs?
axle tramp is usually caused either by shocks not controlling the springs... or it is tyre hop due to springs too hard..
or something like that ???...

look at buying those drift pinapples, the like a solid bush but im pritty sure there not rubber and they give you directions on how to install them in order to help rid axle tramp..
also loose the coilovers for the drags, traction is your friend, coilovers are tractions enemy when launching
oldrollas, i was thinking the same thing, possibly the springs are too hard and not absorbing the "bounce" but i wasnt sure of this.
i have drift pineapples already installed, i just called them the "rubber pineapples under diff mounting points".
Yeah i agree about the coilovers for drags, its really not set up for that purpose but would still like to use what i have and try and fine-tune it.

What rate springs originally came with the JIC's?
I would be surprised if the dampers in them would be able to properly control any spring thats +-20% different than what they were made for.

agreed with too stiff. 10kgs is pretty bloody high. You wantlow spring/damp rates to absorb the weight transfer and allow the tyres to do the gripping. i suggest trying to back the shocks off to their softest setting and have a crack from there. Try raising the rear also to promote some squat under transfer.
Doing all of this will probably put your twisties hadnling characteristics out however so you're gonna have to mess around and find a happy medium
