Definately sounds like valve stem seals. Could also be piston rings.
Get the stem seals done and go from there, it can be done with out removing the head.

Recently it was pointed out that my AW11 seemed to be letting out a little bit of blue smoke here and there. Not a massive deal, the motor has done 258000km and the last 60000km with me owning and driving the hell out of it.
Today I bolted on my straight through exhaust in prep for a track day tomorrow, while I gave it a bit of a sound test (Loud...) I saw the blue smoke myself. It's only when I throttle off, revving up produces a bit of black smoke (it's a bit rich atm) but it's only when I back off the blue smoke comes out for around half a second. If I keep jigging the throttle it's consistent and looks like a 2-stroke if I jig the throttle between 6000 - 7000rpm.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas to what is letting the oil through. I'm thinking valve stem seals at the moment, but some other ideas would be niceI need it to last another 3-6 months before I put my 1MZ in, so any suggestions on prolonging death would be nice too.

I'd agree with stem seals or piston rings, altho from my own personal experience, when it's rings, it smokes on take off etc too, so i'd try doing the stem seals first![]()
I'd say stem seals too if it's only smoking under full vac
Or just drive it till your conversion happens. To be truthful it would probably run like that for years

Definately maybe lord of the rings. Try using some thicker oil in it... should clear things up - or add some flour to it to thicken it up a bit if you don`t wanna spend big bucks on it some motul.![]()
Valve stems, mine gives a nice huff on throttle offI think Vito was nearby when I pissed off the neighbors that day
Nothing to worry or care about, it just means you use a bit of oil.
It survived a full days thrashing at Carnell Raceway yesterday and it didn't get any worse, so I'm inclined to say it's the valve stem seals. Already run 10W50 oil due to the age and distance on the clock.
Bring on the 1MZ already...
Valve stem seals for sure what's actually happening is when you back off there is a high vacuum in the manifold therefore it sucks it through the valve stem seals into th combustion chamber.
If it were rings it would be there almost all the time a good way to test your rings is to rev the engine when it,s cold to 2000rpm and just hold it for a minute after about 30 seconds you will see smoke, also repeat the process when it,s hot after everything expands.
In your case definately valve stem seals
