3rz-fe ECU programming

Hey guys.

I got a hilux i use daily and would like to play with the tune a bit.

Its pretty stock but is on gas so a lpg tune would help with economy and it could quite possibly be getting a bit of boost soon to help with pulling it along lol.


SOOO has anyone heard of it being done. I got a mate who said we might be able to work something out. But will wait n see.


Can anyone give me ANY info on what CPU it uses and what EPROM chip it has?

Please any info will be helpful

I'm pretty dang sure it's like every other Toyota ECU in that you can't tune it Toyota have the maps built into the microcontroller - they can't be changed.

There are 'modes' you can put the micro into to access external code, which is what the MINES & Blitz ECUs do but I haven't heard of them being made for 3RZ, and there is close to zero documentation on it

Your options really are piggy back, i.e. emanage, SAFC, etc or aftermaket ECU.

mmm i was expecting that. i have found some info regarding some other toyota ecu's but like you said absolutly no info anywhere on them.


Quite a few runnign aftermarket ecu's so looks like that is only option.


Not really worth it to get a bit better econ out of gas is it lol.
