    Default 1MZ-FE firing order

Hi all, im trying to find the firing order of a 2002 1mz-fe..

    Internet tells me -

But this doesn't seem to be working for me..

    Someone else says 1-4,2-5,3-6

Any ideas how to be sure?

It is a waste spark 3x COP setup..

So using the above picture the COP is in the style of -

    4-1 lets call this A
    2-5 B
    6-3 C

So COP on cylinder 4 connects to 1 and so forth..

Now if the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6..

We would have to fire the COP B first to get 1 to fire.
Next we would fire COP A to get 2 to fire.
Next we would fire COP C to get 3 to fire.

    Now I get stuck.

So we now need to fire 4, which is COP A.. so we are out of sync..

I am totally confused how this works!
    Help!

I think some interweb stuff is confusing the pairing of cylinders to the firing order..
As I cannot change the pairing of the waste spark I know that is right.. It's in what order to fire each of the 3 COPs..

The only firing order i can find that would work is 1-6-5-4-3-2 that allows the COPs to work the way they are paired..

It is 1-2-3-4-5-6. Same as *VZ and *GR motors.

Joel, 1-4,2-5,3-6 is the same as 123456 if the banks are numbered 123 (left bank) 456 (right bank) which is how i thought V motors were marked, so its not necessarily contradictory.

also i think your COP groupings are confused in your description, i reckon its:

    Coil/trigger/whatever A cylinders 1 and 4

    Coil/trigger/whatever B cylinders 2 and 5

    Coil/trigger/whatever C cylinders 3 and 6

    so it goes:

    A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,

    A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,A1, B2, C3, A4, B5, C6,

    Yeah you are correct..

Hey would you know with the factory toyota igniters, when they mark coil 1, coil 2 & coil 3 in the diagrams.. Is that coil1 as in the first coil at the front of the engine, or is it coil1 as in the first coil that needs to be fired?

As to fire cylinder 1&4 first requires me to fire coil2.. But not 100% sure if that is the output to coil 1 on the ignitor or output to coil 2..

Most your toyota v6 engines are 1-2-3-4-5-6.

Should be coil 1 is to fire first and to be the coil at front of the engine( No.1 Cylinder)

it should be the first coil to fire and "cylinder 1" i'm sure every firing order always starts by firing cylinder 1, just with V engines its not so clear where cylinder 1 is.

glad you didn't buy a W16 engine mate!

See thats where it gets confusing.. Cylinder 1 has no coil on it.. It is paired with cylinder 4 (coil2).

    ah ok, no problem then.

so the coils are only on the right bank (viewed from the front of the car)

this makes perfect sense then, just means that the coils are arranged

B A C according to my description above.

Yup, B A C is correct.. and I figure Toyota must label on the igniter diagram coil1 to be A as in first coil to fire, not B as in first coil physically on the engine..

The way you tell which cylinder 1 is on v engines is there is one head that sits slightly more forward this is cylinder 1 in all v configuration engines
