Torque steer is literally where the torque from the engine actually turns the car, usually due to a lack of LSD and/or unequal length driveshafts.
a few of you lads might laugh at me when i ask this but what is torque steer is it bad or good or is it just you need to know how to use it to your advantage. i know its a fwd thing but want to know exactly what it does to your handling.
as i want to do a gt2 conversion and seen this mentioned quite a bit.

that doesnt sound too good. is it really easy to notice or is it just slight. so it can be over come with an lsd if i do the gt2 conversion?
it can be bad enough to make the car change lanes if you really have got some power cranking. (bit of exaduration, but its BAD)
it definetly can be noticeable, the steering wheel fights you and wants to go its own way. my mates AE92 4agze is pretty tough and it has LSD. the bitch still changes lanes when you gas it hard in 1st and 2nd
its funny to watch my other mates drive it, they dont know anything bout cars and freak out! the looks on their faces! haha

LSD can sometimes multiply the problem
JZX83+ FMIC+ Twin 2.5" dumps to 3"+ FCD+ 2800rpm stallie+ 14psi - LSD - good tyres = 12.85 @105.58
The boobs are back
u wanna no wat it is, come for a drive with me in my car and we will boost it at 14 psi in 2nd gear and you will notice the car pulling and literally wanting to run itself into the gutter on the left hand side
so if i put a stock st 185 3sgte and leave it stock into my st162 will the torque steer be as violent as mentioned. eg. cause the car to change lanes
is a gt2 conversion worth it or will it turn your car into an uncontrollable beast
yes, mines a 3sgte st165, with turbo upgrade and fe wother things but pretty much stock stock power wise 153 at fly ? but with turbo yeh its pretty diff, im waiting on a dyno as i need to fix my clutch prob, but yeh u will have it yes, but i mean to be honest i dont even notice it ? ive had it for a yr now and yeh i dont even notice it now, all i no is to hold onto the steering wheel when i push it hard, its not something u should be really worried bout or put u of a GT2, GT2s are very fun cars![]()
so just holding onto the steering wheel will control it.
does it rip so you have to hold on real tight or gently pull.
i dont want it to become an uncontrollable beast
does it effect your cornering co i love the handling i have now.
doesnt effect cornering, ( well with me) ummmmmmm u just get used to holding it when it wants to pull, doesnt do it all the time though so yeh just sometimes and u no when it does it, i repalced a few bushes with polynuthane bushes and made a difference, maybe should u should just buy my car instead of doin conversionlol sorry i bit drunk

My GZE, without LSD, with equal length shafts is quite tame 90% of the time. I can literally boot it in a straight line in 1st with my hands off the wheel and it barely turns at all.
My old 1.2L civic with unequal shafts was far worse.
mine does it but not always and only on full bost, and much worse at high boost

(my bad.. it's just about analysis of torque steer.. may not actually be right)
the graphs of steerign wheel torque vs time, in 7.5, 7.6, and 7.7, show a big difference when the engine/gearbox is tilted different directions... you could possibly eliminate a lot of torque steer by realignign the engine mounts..... hmmmmm

Hey dude it's like when you play daytona at timezone and the wheel tries to turn and youve gotta hold it straight, only difference being this is in reality.

Torque steer is bad, Mkay?
Answer: Get a rwd if you're chasing bigger HP, or an AWD. Not to put you off by any means, but by the time you've done the conversion you could most likely afford an early GT4, which will be a great base, handle well, and be designed for the power output from the factory...
