please, its for my corona but maybe other toyotas of a similar 1985 vintage will have the same plug, never know.
also how do i measure the voltage of the TPS, i tried sticking alligator clips onto the TPS terminals and jamming the wires of the alligator clips into the TPS plug but it didn't seem to work. do i have to stick the probes onto the ECU or should i stick pins through the TPS wires and do it that way?
i got a hilux engine manual but there are some differences between the models.

should be somewhere in the engine bay mate.. from memory i think its on the LHD of the car... have a good look, there isnt that much on the LHD side of the engine bay anyways, either near the battery or near the firewall
found a round 2 pin connector near the battery, one of the terminals was grounded, will buzz it out next time i have all the plastic shit out and see what terminal on the ECU it is
hope this helps mate.. got bord and searched the net to see what plug it was.... for my own knowledge too of course =P
as i can see its a yellow connector with a black cap over it with 2 wires over it, which is also the check connector for the engine light from memory... with the engine running, stick a paperclip or piece of wire in there and you should hear the idle drop slightly, then your ready to set the base timing.. which should be around the 5 degrees mark.... with the engine still running, disconnect your paper clip at the timing should of advance itself to around the 12degress mark on idle...
btw if you notice two yellow plugs next to each other, its the smaller of the two...
hope that helps champ
can flash codes on the check engine light too with one of those plugs, tried it on my RA65 once.
1983 Toyota Celica Supra
yup thats right..
key on engine off - bridge connector = engine light codes
key on engine running - bridge connector = set base timing
cheers guys, my plugs don't seem to be in the same spots but they look like the right wire colours. was looking for a rectangular plug with a lid a-la- 4AGE but corona is different.
hopefully this fixes all the problems of my wildest dreams, I want to get some more life out of the 22RE, as I find it interesting and not entirely unpleasant.
pritty good motor in my opinion, plenty of people have turbocharged them.... if you still cant figure your woes id recommend buying the corona manual for the most part of $30 or however much from your nearest supershit autos and looking at the TPS reset procedure and tests
