Default TA22 Rack and Pinion - Interesting web site

    Hi all,

I have recently pulled the engine from my TA22 and had decided that while I had the engine out I would look at putting in a rack and pinion steering setup. I trolled the R&P thread that was started here a while ago and had kinda given up on the idea.

I recently stumbled on this website:

    http://s-86.com/parts.html

There is a part that this guy makes

Complete drop in custom crossmember to use an A series engine with Rack and Pinion steering into a TA22 Celica.
Just thought I would share this amazing (at least for me, this part is basically a dream come true) find with anyone who wants to convert to R&P steering with basically a bolt in part.

Also after any opinions/experience that anyone would like to share, as the website links back to Toymods.

That would be Sam-Q who did a fair bit of posting in that thread wouldn't it?

hi, just found this thread. I modify ae71/ae86 and ke70 crossmembers to bolt in, I don't modify the racks. I also use half of a corolla steering column to make it happen. Right now I have an interesting one, I am using a power steering model ae86 rack as the donor, I dont know if I have ever heard of a power steering ta22 so it should be interesting.

Unfortunetly it's a lot of work.

I do now have a jig for the T engine, I just have yet to try it out, but it's part of the jig now so I know it will work.

However I am not really looking for work right now as I have a lot on and I have taken long enough with this current job I have been meaning to get out. Also I am running out of ae/ke crossmembers and almost completely out of steering columns. I would of thought I could get ke70 crossmembers from everywhere, I guess not afterall.
