That may sound like an odd question coming from someone in the business but let me explain.
We have considerable experience wholesaling in Japan and Russia (largest export market of used Japanese cars) but concerning Australia we're just starting. In order to reduce prices even further we need to know where you, the customer, are likely to look for new genuine parts for used Japanese imports apart from the obvious new car dealerships. We've heard many times over how customers with Japanese imports have trouble dealing with most dealerships and we'd like to know what other options are available to Australian customers away from the dealerships.
Our basic mode of operation is to supply NEW, GENUINE parts for USED JAPANESE IMPORTS. Unfortunately our systems aren't set up (yet) to cater for cars sold new outside of Japan, so this poll is directed at the import owners out there.
This goes for New Zealand too, so Kiwis we want to hear from you.
Help us to help you!
Many thanks

+1more for castle hill toyota.
I buy genuine Toyota parts from my local Toyota dealer. I buy so much stuff that I get given trade price. The guy I deal with is awesome too, I just email him the part numbers and vehicle details and he gets me a price and availability within a few days.
Other aftermarket parts come from local distributors etc. (The Tuners Group for Works Bell gear etc).
I dont think Castle Hill are that special, ive found the same or better pricing at my local Toyota dealer. As usual it very much depends on what it is youre buying as to how much you get bent over - some prices are just ridiculous, others are par for the course and just occasionally some parts are surprisingly cheap
As for me ive got Toyota parts from-
* local Toyota dealer
* interstate Toyota dealer
* ebay (USA)
* Yahoo japan via broker
* other business (eg Driftmotion USA)
I will give Amayama a go for my next order

Great info there guys, thanks.
So would you say Toyota dealerships have the lion's share of new genuine parts sales? Or are they losing ground to internet shops? (I hear quite a few people go through one of the many USA based internet parts vendors)
And what about Wreckers? Would they deal with new genuine parts at all?
I use wreckers for used parts only. Toyota for genuine, online for import parts and Repco/Autobarn for the general stuff.
I use my local dealer for genuine parts as the spare parts guy was a friend in high school.
The only problem with this is, anything not sold in Australia I have to find the part numbers for other wise the system the dealer uses won't show the part exists.
General parts are bought from Repco etc
Some parts (1zzfe coil plug connectors) I have had to source from the USA though.
in western aus i either get tristan from wtfauto to get me something in as the toyota dealer he deal's with supply parts at reasonable prices and is easy to deal with.
occasionally i use the toyota dealership that the hospital gets all their fleet vehicle's from as hosp employees are suppossed to be able to get trade prices on part's.
but it seems do depend on which rep i get and a couple of them really annoy me so dont go there if i can help it. a couple others are really helpful but i cant be arsed walking in to see who's at the desk
I get all my bits from two different Toyota Dealers for a UZS131, as for parts no one has them Ive but whole cars just for bits.
ST177 UZS131 Crown Royal 'G' the pimping limo like daily 1UZFE 144rwkw

Have a shot at http://justjap.com
Dont know if that helps ?
I've been using a Toyota Dealer in NZ. Even with freight it's cheaper than most quotes I've had from here. And he knows imports, too.

Thanks for the replies so far but was really after info on where people got their new geniune parts *away* from the dealerships. We'd like to know what other alternatives there are besides getting parts from dealerships in order to improve our service.
i've used him before for VVT pulley for my 20v (jason put me onto him iirc)... even with the awsome price i still did not do... but just delt with the small difference it would make lol..
i also had a contact, Dean Sollit (bruce's son) who i was directly dealing with for TRD parts.. but Bruce stopped the TRD gear..
also get stuff from terryo (road and track) if i dont need it right now today. he get's good prices on OEM parts and often runs specials.
