I really cannot see many good reasons to want to do this....!

Hey there.
The time has come for me to change the old worn-out 2TB to something more powerfull...
I have decided to go with the 5M-GE from the Celica-Supra.
But is it possible? I am thinking size? Will i fit without cutting?

I agree with Wilbo, 3TGTE would be a nice fit and has heaps more power, TA22 has a short nose not like the RA23/28 6 cyl fit would be hard.
3TGTE might be old but it can still hammer along.
DOOOOOOOOO ITTTTTTTTTTTTTT, would look ultra awesome in such an old car....
although for practicality, a 3t would be a better choice, as said above

And the winner of the big car race is......HOT ROD ZOIDBERG!
An alloy V6 would be interesting, a 5MGE would be an under-powered lead-tipped arrow (if it fitted)?
Anything is possible, but as others have said, the 3T GTE is a easy high powered option for a TA22...

Being in europe, i think a 5cyl motor (volvo or audi) would sound cool - and be cheaper than trying to source old engines?
repeat this http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthread.php?t=48173 and please post resulting skids and audio![]()
i want to go down the 6 cylinder road. And i am sticking with toyotas own engines, so no volvo engine for me (but yes, we are practically drowning i 5 cylinder volvo engines).
Wich motor would you recommend if not the 5MGE? It has to be 6 cylinder.....
alloy V6 ... unless you want to chop the tunnel to fit something like a 1GGTE
1jz, 2jz, 2gr, .......1 and 2j will require you to cut the firewall and move it back, 2gr (out of aurion) would be sick....or if your a fag, one of those POS commonwhore v6 motors
i'd go with the 2gr, alloy, pretty, quite grunty, plenty of potential, getting it rwd might be hard, but well worth the effort for a ta22!

Easy on there woggin, our first poster is from Denmark, and he won't be across the cars generally found in Australia, what we might nick-name them, and what we might feel about them. Got to think Eurpean market Toyota models here....
A V6 Camry engine is possible in a TA22, something like a 3VZ-FE or 1MZ-FE.
RA23
1G-GZE
^^^ Totally agree, and repped accordingly...
1JZ MZ20 Soarer - 4AGZE KE70 Corolla - 4AGE AE86 - 4AGE KE70
i reckon if you want to go down the old school road ditch the 5mge and chuck in a 6mge maybe heavy but good low down torque and sounds sweet...![]()
i've seen a 5ME in a ta22, it was a tight fit, not much room for radiator etc, it would definatly go well.
1983 Toyota Celica Supra
I'd think putting a M series into a TA22 wouldn't be the best idea given the weight, size and power output of the thing.
But what do you want to do? Just get some more power into your TA22? Why does it have to be 6cyl? And do you want to keep it legal?
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
